The public funds issue is a non-starter. "You mean he's not taking tax money because he was too successful at fund-raising? Hell, I'd do the same." is how everyone but the most rabid of neo-cons is going to read it. But he's dead on in saying that the system itself is a racket. Both parties have played around it for years.

For the record (is there really a record?) I'm NOT an Obama supporter. I don't know who is getting my vote come November. I'm old school and think that's something between a voter, the ballot and the Almighty.

I just don’t get it…you can publish a cartoon of McCain flip-flopping and nearly all conservatives would just laugh or roll their eyes.

But the VITROL with which one is attacked by MOBS of people if they dare mock Obama…is astounding.

It’s a definite difference between the liberal and conservative psyche. I mean, people even breathing a whiff of criticism against Obama are met with near bombastic, frenzied hatred, delivered in the tone of an irate school girl.

It’s so strange!

-->At the same time I see no problem in drawing attention to Obama's changing stance on accepting public funds.

I agree, but I defy you to show me how this obtuse panel does that.

Tread, I didn't write or draw the cartoon. At the same time I see no problem in drawing attention to Obama's changing stance on accepting public funds. Nor would I have any problem with someone pointing out McCain's many shifting stances on a number of issues.

Instead of a knee-jerk reaction to the cartoon like you had in for first comment, perhaps it would have been more helpful to try and explore the issues behind it. As the election draws nearer Obama will undoubtedly modify a number of his stances as her shifts more towards the center. While I think that's acceptable in a campaign, the fact that Obama made such a huge point of saying he would stick to his guns that it's fair to question his adjustments.

Tankboy, if you're trying to flex your libertarian street cred, you're failing miserably. Obama has been incredibly more consistent on the issues he supports than flapping-in-the-wind McCain. There's a reason McCain's campaign slogan should be "4 more years!"

On a different note, these "political" cartoons are not really biting at all. If you want some that take the piss out of both the candidates and the media, I suggest This Modern World by Tom Tomorrow. At least he's honest and not trying to push some made up media bullshit.

These cartoons remind me of that comic strip with the boy and the dragon where the captions make no fucking sense, and it's so absurd and surreal that it's kinda cool. (I just spent five minutes trying to find it online and failed. Can anyone help me out?)

Except without the "kinda cool" part, these cartoons just suck.

How about a visible blowhole with the "O" logo?

C'mooooon. The possibilities are endless.

I like these cartoons a lot. They're well drawn and cutting.

If you don't get it it's your own fault.

Albany- Talking about or making light of Barack's ears is off the table, remember?
Maybe a label 'Obama' on the fin or something would help.

It's not that it went over my head, it's that the cartoon sucks. How are we to glean Obama from that? One eyebrow and some fuzz around the blowhole don't have fk-all to do with Obama. I'm with rhos, it looks more like Martin Scorsese.

Tim,

I'm not going to beat you with a stick over your work but if we can't understand who the subject of the cartoon is, it fails.

Obama is known for his ears and his grin, the dolphin has neither identifying characteristic. You could slap his name on the side, that's a staple of politcal cartoons.

The dialogue doesn't give us a hint either. And you didn't spell "c'mon" in a way that makes sense. Dragging out the "n" sound would be really weird. People elongate vowels, not consonants.

Check out "Cartoon Violence" over on Wonkette. It's a funny look at some of the tropes of political cartoons.

http://wonkette.com/tag/cartoon-violence

As for the flip-flop label on Obama, it just doesn't work when you stand him next to John McCain, who seems to be treating his pulling his political opinions out of a hat on a daily basis.

Dear Tim Daly:

Go shove the stupid fucking meme of Obama being a flip-flopper up your media-sucking ass.

Thanks in advance,
