Opportunity for Jazz, Turtles

shedd%20jazz.JPGWho would have thunk the Shedd Aquarium could be seen as a viable jazz venue, but it becomes one every summer due to its annual Jazzin’ at the Shedd program. Every Thursday, local jazz bands play on Shedd’s north terrace and inside at the Caribbean Reef, providing a musical backdrop for the museum’s fishy splendors*. Drinks and snacks are also available for purchase.

Current Jazzin’ schedule is as follows:

Outdoor Terrace
July 17 – Soulio
July 24 – Mike Frost Project
July 31 and Aug. 28 – Detour JazFunk
Aug. 7 – Tim Fitzgerald Quartet
Aug. 14 – NO JAZZIN’
Aug 21 – Dee Alexander Quartet

Caribbean Reef
July 17, 31 and Aug. 28 – The Tim Fitzgerald Trio
July 24, Aug. 7 and 21 – Alejandro Urzagaste
Aug. 14 – NO JAZZIN’

* We tried to find a Little Mermaid “Under the Sea” picture for the post. No luck. Boo

1200 South Lake Shore Drive, Thursdays through 8/28 (except 8/14), 5-10 p.m., $10, museum members free
