Avery's doesn't even do it for me. I should also note (for Greedo, in particular) that my personal preferences for beer should not be read as an indictment of a state's microbrewing industry.

No hops in the Rockies? How about Avery's The Maharaja, with 100 IBUs and a 10% ABV? This is a delicious beer, second only to the mighty Dreadnaught.

Thanks for the suggestion! I'm a huge Breckenridge Brewery fan. Spent different winter snowboard trips to Breck during college and we always went silly buying case after case after case of their beer for our condo.

it seems to me that the state of colorado has a better sense of brewing than anything here in the midwest. the fact that they have the largest concentration of microbreweries must attest for something. . . i don't think chicagoist is too experienced with the colorado brewing industry. colorado has been leagues ahead of everyone else for sometime.
