Convention Offering $25K For Bartman Autograph

A sports-collector convention and SportsBuy.com say they'll pay Steve Bartman $25,000 for an autograph. But their press release also says "Where forth [sic] art thou, Steve Bartman?" so who knows. And for the record, wherefore means why, not where.

Anyway, organizers for the National Sports Collector Convention must know that Bartman will never do it, so this is a no-risk stunt. The show starts next Wednesday at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, and general admission for one day is $15.

Bartman? that's impossible considering he's only the alter ego of bart on the simpsons.

i learned wherefore=why from studying "romeo and juliet"

$25k for one autograph?!? Why the hell wouldn't he do it? Sure, he's got to show up at the convention, but he could hire a couple of bodyguards for the visit...

I read this story on yahoo and it said they would provide security for him.

Hell, for 25k I'll get a fake id, put on some headphones and a hoodie. That is a lot of cash.

Funny how the Bartman story will not die. I still am shocked how the tv(I think it was fox) broadcast gets none of the blame for this story. They kept showing him over and over again. Every bad play (of which there was many) they would cut to him looking like a sad puppy. And the initial reaction by the play by play guy (again I think it was Joe Buck) was horrible. I think he outright blamed Bartman. And of course there were Alou's crybaby antics, which only vilified Bartman more.

What I often wonder is what the scapegoat (no pun intended) would have been if not for this Bartman thing. If anything it should probably have been Alex Gonzalez booting a tailor made double play ball in that inning. When really they just lost to a great team.

He's still around and about. I know people who know him.

I've said too much.

But he's still in Chicagoland.

they should have Alex Gonzalez sign a picture of Dusty Baker

No kidding, siwook. Alex Gonzalez should thank Bartman every day for his mistake. Without Bartman, Gonzalez would be the Cubs version of Buckner (infamy-wise, I know Buckner played for us too).

bartman got the shaft. i really feel sorry for the fellow. no one with their hands reaching for that ball too got implicated and the cubs choked. unfortunately he'll have a hard time living things down especially with stunts like this.
