Jackson 5 Museum In Gary Not As Easy as 1-2-3

I know it's not the Jackson 5, but this is my favorite Michael Jackson performance. It seemed more fun than a photo of Joe Jackson.

A Jackson 5 museum is in the preliminary planning stages in Gary, but it got a visibility boost after patriarch Joe Jackson announced his support for the project yesteray. So far, there's no groundbreaking date and no timeline for completion. In other words, people are sort of talking about maybe doing a museum or something. The proposed museum would be built near I-80 on city-owned property, and might include the Jackson family's old house.

Jackson was in Gary to tape an episode of his reality show, according to reports, though we can't find anything that indicates any channel has agreed to broadcast said show. He received the keys to the city, and Gary mayor Rudy Clay is a big fan of the museum idea.

Would Jackson need the approval of his variously famous offspring to get the museum plans started?

"I'm Joe Jackson," he said. "I don't need them to approve anything." [WBBM, CBS 2]

I'll have something snarky to say on this later
;-)

Hopefully this happens. It would really do a lot for the struggling Gary tourism industry.

struggling? has Gary ever been a tourist destination?

i am a huge jackson family fan, however, and would take the train down there to see michael's original nose or janet's infamous pastie.

An old abandoned sanitarium would be a great place for it.

O.K since Petepant's gay a$s started it ;-)

Lookieeee Yonder!!!
Oh I can see the lines for the Jackson 5 Museum forming now with Joe Jackson still rock'n a jerrie Curl collecting the ticket money of course!

Chicagoist please! They need to take what ever pennies they raised and invest in either a decent school or send the kids of Gary to a boarding school some where the F*ck else! And this is from probably Theee best former 8th grade Thriller Dancer in Chicago back in my day! Yea I was hot!

oh and speaking of gay a$sses, I got a find for you hot-red-Petepants! I've never been to Berlin, but I did take a mostly yuppie straight group to El Gato Negro!

Cause I always roll hard, son. If I was gay I'd be The King! Or Queen, what ever the hell yall call it!

As Mike Jackson said "Shaamon!"

el gato negro?! so it really does exist. i just thought it was so gay, urban legend.

i'll have to take you out some night, spook. unleash those latent homosexual tendencies you make so evident in your posts. :)

Peteypants

I deeply preciate your extending to yer Spook some cover of quiescent or coquettish emotion like
"latent homosexual tendencies" to dispell some of the talk of certain mean old Chicagoist posters that I'm nothing more than an “internet troll”. It almost makes me blush ;-)

Shaamon!
