Temps have dropped considerably in the last day or so, giving Chicago its coolest stretch in weeks. This summer has been particularly mild, according to magical wizard Tom Skilling, who says "The 2008 warm season has been noteworthy for its lack of extreme or extended heat."

We're looking at clear skies today and tomorrow, with stormclouds gathering Thursday night and a chance of thunderstorms Friday. [Skilling, NWS]

although i've sworn never to complain about the heat, it seems strange that my pal tom would say that, since it seems that this is the first break from the heat we've had in awhile.

It's too hot our here for a penguin!

I just hope I'm lucky enough to get similar weather when I come up for Market Days. Although I won't be holding my breath.
