he takes newspaper layoffs as THE sign of a bad economy? he knows newspapers in general are going in the shitter, right, and will only continue to do so?

Maybe Daley could reach into his and the City Council's personal slush fund (called TIFs) and use some of the hundreds of millions of dollars of property tax money diverted away from CPS and employ that. After all, he cares deeply about the children.

Wow, is this the first time Daley has actually not taken an opportunity to raise taxes?? Now if we could only do something about the ridiculous sales tax...
