Brauerhouse was a favorite venue amongst the punk rock bands we know, primarily due to its open-minded staff, its friendliness to bands of all stripes, and its liberal booking policy. It burned down this morning, and we are saddened to see another good venue go down. [TRIB]

Yeah this is pretty unfortunate. I grew up in and around that area and saw some pretty amazing shows from small time local punk bands and it was really the only "home" for people in the western suburbs who gave a damn about music.
It is sad that it burnt down, but in the meantime, right down the street is a great bar to hang out in. Its called Art's Tavern (healy's public house on google)at 4510 butterfield. Its under new management, theres some young rockabilly guy running the place and its pretty nice. clean and comfy, service is great, homemade pizzas, internet juke, free wireless, darts.. it's come a long way from an old man shot and beer joint!! I hear they're going to have car shows in the HUGE parking lot too, as soon as the village approves.. It's an AWESOME and comparable temporary, or long term replacement! TELL EVERYONE!!
Oh, and to clarify incase you think i'm "promoting competition" the bars in that area are all really close, and we just want to extend a place for patrons to mourn and remember the Brauer.
