Thunderbelly- You pretty much got it in one. The main reasons I hate HOB are the harsh security and outrageous drink prices. Plus, when I saw Ministry there a few months back, not only did they wristband all the over-21s, but I had my ID checked at the bar *by the same bartender* every time I went to get an $8 underpoured mixed drink. And forget about grabbing a drink for your friend unless you take their ID with you. The other reason I hate the place is certainly personal bias. At the free K Fed show, security confiscated my $10 keychain digital camera because they didn't believe that my taking the battery out wiped the pictures clean. Plus, it seems a bit strange to harass a guy with a cheap-ass keychain camera when people are taking far superior shots to mine with their cell phones. Usually it does sound good, but the concert going experience there blows goats, especially if it's crowded.

My guess is the city only provides Lolla with a certain time frame for the fest. With Taste, Blues, Gospel, Jazz Fest, Air and Water Show, etc... there are too many available weekends for the fest.

it's time to change the date of Lolla, it's just too goddamn hot. i know there are almost no guarantees in Chicago weather but you can almost always count on hot as balls weather in august, it's a given. didn't anyone tell Perry that? It can't be comfortable for him to be strutting around in tight jeans and leather vests in this kind of heat

TB, I'm confused why everyone you've talked to wants to see MGMT at the doubledoor...they're pretty lackluster live and that reputation seems to follow them around.

E, will you elaborate on your opinion of HoB? I know its super expensive, and security can be harsh, but do you have any other reasons to hate it? I find it to be one of the best, if not the best, sounding rooms in the city.
