Ah, yes. One of my favorite Chicago Characters. Here I got some photos of him in 2005 with signage about how hurricane Katrina was a "Russian war attack" - because the Russians have weather control! They got it from the Nazis! But I swear I remember seeing him even way back when I was in college, circa 1988-92.

i really like the free hugs people. Unless you are an attractive woman, your free hug is costing me. I love neighborhood nuts. Just walk up to the guy and say "The Squirrel are very festive in Moscow this October" nod, smirk and walk away to a safe distance.

Yeah, this guy has been harmlessly wandering around for years. He's apparently mentally ill (duh!), so please don't bug him or try to engage him on his "ideas". Let's just all be glad that he doesn't get himself in troble and seems to be either able to take care of himself or he's being well cared for. (On the other hand, come February '09, there will probably be a bunch of unemployed neo-cons wandering the streets of America spouting similar irrational crap - those are the guys who we should be pestering! ;^) )

This guy has been around at LEAST ten years. I distinctly remember seeing him when his sandwich board announced that Al Gore had been assassinated and replaced by a communist impostor.

This dude has been out there pulling these shenanigans for a long time now. Months at least, maybe even a year or more. His messages always involve the Russians and how they are out to control our country. One of my better walks home came when he was sharing turf with the "free hugs" folks. Plenty to be amused about in the Chicago and Michigan intersection area that afternoon.
