@RalphWiggum

I finally got the 411, someone posted this link over on the AMP'd board.

First off, the crowd at Rage BLEW me away. Watching from afar, someone made the comment that said it looked like the video of Metallica playing Moscow, and they were right on. I had a lot of highlights of the day, but I think my highlight goes out to all the die hard Rage fans, you really showed what it means to LOVE music and were an inspiration to all of the artists and music industry watching from afar as to what playing music was all about. It looked incredible.

I thought DeVodka (Yes, after a few too many vodka/vitamin waters and thought this was funny) was really good too. Thought it would be boring, but actually really dug the music.

Liddel plays a great show, though it was similar to his set at the Abbey. And, he seems to have the same taste in music as I do, b/c he seemed to be at every show that I was on Friday and Saturday, which made me think more highly of him :) ha.

Dr. Dog played a fantastic set. I hadn't caught them live, and it made me really want to fly into LA to catch them with Delta Spirit (fantastic live band). But, Dr. Dog sounded like CSN&Y meets doo wop (sic?), which is something I'm totally for.

BSS didn't top their last show at Lollapalooza, but played a great set as usual. It seemed to go by too quickly. But, I really dig how those guys enjoy themselves on stage.

I can't even remember what else I caught at this point (I'm still so tired), but these were def. my highlights!

Did anyone catch Uffie?

I was really looking forward to it, but after coming on a half hour late, messing up my whole Battles/Lupe schedule and then proceeding to poorly sing over her voice track, I left.

Dr. Dog put on a really good set and it was a really good precursor to Gutter Twins. Lanegan is by far the most evil looking MF in rock today. He hardly moved up on that stage and I imagined his eyes being black (like his soul) behind those sunglasses which reflected the crowd so awesomely in the jumbo trons. That was an awesome awesome set and I was actually surprised to see so many people in attendance for it.

I was pretty disappointed in MGMT. I think that it might just be the setting... probably better seen in a small venue. I left around the time they were playing "Kids" and accidentally caught an audible whiff of Serena Ryder. No thank you.

DJ Bald Eagle may have put on one of the best sets of the entire weekend (that I saw). Cool Kids came out and did a song with him and shortly after he spun into "Baba O'Reilly" and came out in his Bald Eagle mask and brown hoodie. Easily the most fun/get the party going set of the weekend, it also helped that it was positioned in the shade.

Battles, yes, definitely. I've seen this band about five times now and they never ever disappoint. I think they played a new song or two and of course old favorites like "Tonto" and "Atlas". Everyone was loving the shit out of it. There was this teenage guy and his dad next to me pretty much awe struck, they didn't know what they were seeing but they were loving it. THat's the kind of thing I like about Lolla.

Say what you want about Toadies, they brought it. They opened with Backslider which is one of my favorite Toadies songs. I left as they said "We're that band that played that one song" and went into POssum Kingdom. Yeah they're getting old but they really nailed their songs.

The city shut it down on Saturday afternoon. Something about the venue not being appropriate or appropriately licensed.

Conspiracy theories about it abound though, with some pointing to the clubs in the city (cough CROBAR cough) having it shut down so they could get the inevitable overflow.

Anyone got the 411 on Perry Farrell's/Beatport Satellite Party, and why it got cancelled?

I could see the jumbotron from almost 1 mile away on Elston. That was supposed to be a hell of a party.

Wilco was fantastic as always. They never disappoint, but it's great to see them shine in that large festival setting.

I was in the minority of my friends in choosing Wilco over Rage, but I'm glad I did. They've never sounded better as a band, and those suits spoke for themselves.

Best quote from Tweedy: "We saw Radiohead last night, and they were awesome, but they didn't look like they had been doing any sewing lately."
