Upcoming Beer Dinners You Must Do!

2008_08_JO_logo.jpgThere are a couple of really interesting beer dinners of note in the coming weeks that could wind up being hard reservations, if you're the type to wait until the last minute to get reservations.

Next Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. Brasserie JO (59 W. Hubbard, 312-595-0800) is hosting a special four-course beer dinner featuring selections from Van Steenberge beers (brewers of one-time "BotW" selection Piraat). Piraat is not on the menu for this tasting, but Celis White (inspiration for, among other white ales, Unibroue's Blanche de Chambly) will be.

On August 18, Goose Island's Clybourn brewpub (1800 N. Clybourn, 312-915-0071) is the setting for a $150-per-plate fundraiser for Green City Market. The four-course dinner will feature dishes prepared by Paul Kahan and Brian Huston (Blackbird and the soon-to-open beer-centric Publican), Paul Virant of Vie, Dean Zanella of 312 Chicago and Elissa Narow of Custom House. Among the beer pairings will be Goose Island's upcoming Juliet. Goose Island brewmaster Greg Hall told us a few weeks back that Juliet won't be released to the public until next year, so this is an opportunity to taste it out before then.

Juliet is a very tasty beer.

It'll be interesting to taste the Juliet the second time around, burden. If I remember correctly, Greg hall said that for the mass release they were going to go with a different berry than marion.
