According to a new analysis from Forbes magazine, Cubs fans are the fourth most loyal in baseball, behind the Rangers, Red Sox and Braves. Loyalty here is measured as the relationship between winning percentage and attendance since 1991: "The faster that fans boosted attendance and the more hastily they abandoned poor performance indicated fans who were less loyal." Baseball's least-loyal? Angels fan. [Forbes]

The Braves? The Rangers? Really? That's surprising.
This is flawed. Look at the size of this market: Shockingly it's not hard to fill up a relatively small stadium of 40,000 seats in a market of 10,000,000 people. You want to talk loyalty then look at MUCH smaller markets (st.louis) with higher attendance than the cubs.
Let's not forget that half of those 40,000 cub fans per game are drunken tourists or fratboys who have no idea whats going on on the field. The other half are just assholes who instantly boo their own players at the drop of a drunken dime. Loyalty?
Wow, Avid, way not to pigeonhole or anything. Do your Sox fan statistics include everyone who jumped on their bandwagon during their 2005 title run?

Avid - mea culpa. I meant no disrespect by associating you with the White Sox. I guess my point is that, yeah, there are a lot of frat boys out there in the bleachers, but, having been to a dozen games each of the last couple of seasons, a lot of the people in the grandstand are good fans that are dedicated Cubs fans and ARE loyal. Some can be dicks, but what team DOESN'T have jerk fans?
And I agree with the Braves statement. When I lived back down yonder, we walked up before a playoff game and got decent seats. Atlanta has the worst bandwagon fans...if you don't count Boston.
Bad analysis- Braves fans actually really suck and they couldn't even sell out playoff series's. I don't think I have ever met anyone who called themselves a Texas Rangers fans.
Something such as fan loyalty should not be measured by statistics... stupid pseudo-economists- go back to your abacus's.
