Bernard McCullough, 1957 - 2008

Comedian Bernie Mac, who was recovering from a recent bout of pneumonia, died at Northwestern Memorial hospital early this morning. He was 50 years old. The cause of death has not been announced. Coincidentally, just last week Mac was the subject of a hoax where several media outlets were contacted and told that he had died. He also recently made headlines for working blue at a Barack Obama fundraiser.

Born in Chicago, Mac worked up through the Chicago comedy scene before getting his big break on Def Comedy Jam. He then went on to appear in a number of movies, as well as going on a popular nationwide tour as part of the "Kings of Comedy". Mac also had his own sitcom on Fox, The Bernie Mac Show. [S-T]
