Fatburger Ready to Conquer IL

The California-based burger chain Fatburger will be opening its first Chicago-area outpost in Orland Park next month and its second on 95th and Western come January, all thanks to Kanye West. West owns KW Foods LLC, which has the rights to develop 10 Fatburgers around Chicagoland. That guy is everywhere! [Crain's]

95th and Western? Damn I live right by there. I bet it's going to take the place of the Starbucks they're closing.

Top-Notch Beefburgers has some competiton.

To crashomom............

No, Top-Notch doesn't have any competition. Still one of the best burgers in the city.

Chain Burger? Nah...

Too many good burgers to be had at local spots to waste my money on pre-processed food.

Hamburger Mary's, Big Jones, T's and that's just a couple blocks in Andersonville.

Hamburger Mary's is a growing chain, FYI. I love the food there, but a chain it is.

Fatburger is letting Kanye West make the same mistake Church's Chicken made here 20 some years ago.
Church's opened all or almost all of their store in poor black neighborhoods. That gave them the reputation of having lower quality food, whether it was or wasn't true. I have no idea as there wasn't any near me, but no one I knew, even blacks who I worked with wanted their food.

In looking at the list of where Fatburger is in the LA area, most are in white areas, even though Fatburger was started by a black woman & is owned by blacks today.
There's absolutely nothing wrong about wanting to open up in black neighborhoods & employ the people who need jobs there, in fact, it's admirable they're investing there, but in Chicago, race does matter & they're making a mistake!

The smart thing to do would to open up the first ones downtown & then spread out, thus eliminating any idiotic negative image problems.

call me when they bring In n' Out, otherwise I don't care.

Uh, Scooter, Orland Park and 95th & Western aren't exactly what I would call "poor black neighborhoods".

@Prescott. Exactly on point.

True the location on 95th will get some traffic from the East, it (95th & Western) is not the ghetto.

"That guy is everywhere!"

I wish Kayne was in Georgia being shot by some Russian soldier

Top-Notch only gets competition from it's OTHER Top-Notch location in Oak Lawn.

"Do we want to go to the big Top Notch or the little one?"

I'll try a Fat Burger. But can't nobody beat TN.
