Afternoon Box Score

Cubs Thump Braves
Jason Marquis pitched a solid five and 1/3 innings today and got more than enough support from his offense in leading the Cubs to a 10-2 victory over the Atlanta Braves in the daytime portion of a day-night doubleheader. Both Jim Edmonds and Geovany Soto had 2-run home runs and RBI doubles in the win. After Marquis, Neal Cotts, Jeff Samardzija (who may start Sunday), and Bob Howry had mop up duty for the bullpen. Ramirez, DeRosa, and Theriot also had RBIs in the win, the Cubs' seventh in their last 10 games. Game two of the doubleheader gets underway at 6:15 as Rich Harden takes the mound for the Cubs.
