Celebrate U.S. Swimming With Olympic Splash Bash Party

2008_08_15_splash.jpgClearly, we're all about the Olympics in the Chicagoist office, but we're not the only ones. As Matt Grevers and Christine Magnuson have done us proud and as Michael Phelps closes in on a record number of gold medals, it's the perfect time to watch all the drama unfold with fellow fans. Tonight, USA Swimming, the Lake Forest Swim Club, and Illinois Swimming LSC are hosting Splash Bash at the Hilton on Michigan Ave., a chance for fans to come together and root on the American swim team, watch the events live, and learn more about USA Swimming.

More than 400 local swimmers will be there, including 2000 Sydney Olympics silver medalist Kristy Kowal. NBC's broadcast of the games will be shown live on big-screen televisions and there will be various games and door prizes as well as a chance to win a trip for two to the Golden Goggle Awards, USA Swimming’s annual award ceremony, in New York City on November 2008.

USA Swimming Splash Bash, Friday August 15, 9 p.m. - 12 a.m., The Hilton, 720 S. Michigan Ave., Free Admission
