Cubs Own Dirty South
For the first time in...well, a very long time, the Chicago Cubs have swept the season series with the Atlanta Braves after taking Thursday night's game, 11-7. Aramis Ramirez and Alfonso Soriano both homered and Ted Lilly gave up four runs over six innings to earn his twelfth win of the season. It's the Cubs eighth straight road victory and their ninth in their last 12 games. Catcher Geovany Soto knocked in three more runs, bringing his RBI total in the series to seven; in fact, the Cubs outscored the Braves 29-9 in the series and 49-18 for the year. One sour note from the win: Ramirez was forced to leave the game with a bruised hip after an awkward slide at home plate in the fifth inning. Now it's on to Miami for the hot Cubs to face the Marlins who are in the thick of their own playoff race.
Sox Sweep Royals
We hope the Sox got some rest on their flight to the left coast after yesterday afternoon's 9-2 victory.

Weekend Diversion: Night Of The Ponies

I hate to start this, but ...
Seriously? A huge paragraph on the Cubs and one sentence on the Sox? Hello. Not only are the Sox in first place, too, but they tied a major-league record by hitting four consecutive home runs yesterday (something that's only been done six times EVER) AND they outscored the Royals 22-2 in the their three game sweep. A little fairness, please.
xlprq - if you had bothered to click the damn link in the one sentence about the Sox, you would have been taken to the longer recap of the game I posted yesterday afternoon. We already covered all those facts you claimed we missed.
I'll come to the Sox fan's defense here -- the links are worded the same way, but one goes to a boxscore and the other goes to a previously written post.
Slaphappy - Fair enough, but at the time he/she posted the comment, said Sox report was the fourth story listed on the page, where it's been since around 4:30 p.m. yesterday. Not like it's buried. Just a little scroll would have shown it.
