I hate learning about too popular Pho restaurants. You can never get a table. I just hate waiting in line. No one likes to hear "Pho Queue".

Pho 777 was my favorite until Tank Noodle showed up.

I think I have a touch of Asperger's, because I did a study of Pho up and down Argyle. I hit a new one each time I went until I went down the block and then back up. Based on this research, I decided that Pho 777 is, quote, the shit. I think the secret is in the broth and the quality of meat used. Tank has some jive-ass broth, in my professional opinion. And at some point, people should man up and add bible tripe to whatever meat they are getting. It's delish.

matty: that's the beauty of phở, you don't have to have it with any meat, let alone offal.

Pho Xe Lua on Argyle is the best. Wonderfully seasoned and the beef is exactly the right size and texture. Plus if you toss is as much siracha as I do you can pretty much walk home naked in January and feel fine.

I'm always worried I'm going to stir up a cow eyeball or something when I eat pho. Which I don't.

They've got such a savory broth at the Noodle. I just wished they'd stay open later, phở is a wonderful hangover prevention dish.

One of my favorite places for phở not on Argyle Street is the Noodle on Wentworth. This reminded me of when we used to do South Side Cheap Eats more frequently.
