Cubs Edged By Fish
Sean Marshall was outdueled by Anibal Sanchez as the Cubs lost to the Marlins 2-1, ending their road winning streak at nine games. Henry Blanco's solo home run in the fourth was the only offense the Cubs mustered off of Sanchez. Not that Marshall was a slouch himself: he gave up only two runs and struck out eight in five innings. Hanley Ramirez provided an offensive spark for the Marlins right away with a solo home run in the bottom of the first. "We had chances -- what can I say?" said Lou Piniella. "We had some people up there who we have all the confidence in the world in, and we didn't get it done." In spite of the loss, the Cubs are in good shape in the division as they wrap up the road trip today in Miami: they're four and a half games up on the Brewers and six and a half games up on the Cardinals.

Danks Delivers For Sox
The White Sox were also involved in a 2-1 game but came out of this one on the winning side. In spite of giving up six hits and five walks and loading the bases a few times, John Danks also struck out five and gave up only one run over six innings to earn the win. The bullpen held the lead and Bobby Jenks got his 25th save of the year. Toby Hall and Juan Uribe both had RBIs to lift the Sox to a rare win in Oakland and help the Sox stay even with the Twins in first place in the AL Central. Ozzie Guillen, ever the glass-half-full guy, said, "It was an ugly game, but we won. I don't know how we did it. It might be a good sign for tomorrow and the future." After wrapping up the quick three-game west coast road trip against the A's, the Sox fly back home to open another homestand against the Mariners.
