A 16-year-old girl has been charged in the July attack that involved throwing acid on a Logan Square woman. The teen, unnamed because she's a juvenile, was arrested in Stockton, California, and charged with armed robbery and heinous battery. According to police, the girl did not act alone, and she could face charges as an adult. Police say her confession also implicates another teenager.
After Chicago police released surveillance video of the crime, Cicero police apparently recognized the teen because "they had been called on July 28 to check on a teenage girl with apparent chemical burns on her hands and arms."
Esperanza Medina, 48, is still in the hospital recovering from third-degree chemical burns that cover nearly half her body. [Trib, S-T]

where does a teenage girl get sulphuric acid??
Glad they caught her and hope she is tried as an adult. That was so horrible.
Um if you can get ahold of acid and are craaaazy enough to want to hurt someone with it, then you should seriously be charged as an adult.
I'm really relieved to hear that they found at least one of the people responsible. One of the more disturbing things about this case is the fact that a teenager would use acid to attack and rob a perfect stranger. Ever hear of a knife, deary?
Her parents actually knew the ploice were looking for her and sent her to California in hiding. I feel bad for the assaulted mother. The punishment doesn't fit the crime.
