Mayor Daley, among other prominent Illinois politicos, is scheduled to give a speech at the Democratic convention next week. Daley will deliver his address on Wednesday on the theme "Securing America's Future." I saw Daley give a speech a few months ago, and for being such a powerful politician, he's a surprisingly uninspiring public speaker. [Crain's]

He's always been a backroom boy. He hasn't had an actual debate in how many years? When would he get in practice?
The absent-minded mayor-maynot is something of an act too. I've seen him speak with viper-like clarity to small groups and turn into Mr. Magoo when reporters come a-knockin'.
Great. Everyone will see what a mumbling mound of mediocrity we have as a mayor.
I only wish "nepotism" started with "m."
"Securing America's future" with crumbling infrastructure, failing public schools, murders up 18% over the previous year... yeah, they picked a winner alright. *facepalm*
why are you surprised? i've never seen him speak well. ever. i think he's an embarrassment to the city, frankly. corruption, greed and scandal rule this school and he is the guy on watch? not to mention he always sounds like a cross between a good old souf side dude and mayor quimby. gah.
i guess if obama needs a real 'blue collar' guy, he's getting something there.
