Pretty sure he isn't taking Jindal, due to the experience factor. I can see McCain going with Palin, but if I had to bet money right now, he'll take Mitt Romney. If anything, the last month or so has shown how quickly the conservative base of the party is willing to buy into McCain, even though they all hate his immigration stance and the fact he dared disagree with Rumsfeld and Bush.

I can see McCain/Romney beating Obama and any combination of running mates unless he takes Clinton, and that isn't going to happen. Obama can't solidify his message into something most people can remember, which has always been his weakness. Once this election cycle is over, if Obama loses I think we'll see a huge shift in party leadership - the Clintons will knock Howard Dean to the curb.

Adding Bobby Jindal to the McCain ticket will only make it more viable. A youthful, non-white person is exactly what the GOP needs.

My biggest fear is that McCain picks Sarah Palin, governor of Alaska. Unfortunately, she's a fascinating woman -- that she's also a total milf doesn't hurt either.

Kerry and Gore will never be selected as Obama's goal is to win, not alienate 40-50% of the U.S. voting population.

Also, very interesting to see McCain closing ground rapidly on Obama. If the Democrats can't win this election, they might as well never run a candidate for the office again. This should be the biggest gimme election since Carter mismanaged the Iranian hostage crisis, yet the GOP remains very very viable.

Adding Bobby Jindal to the McCain ticket will only make it more viable. A youthful, non-white person is exactly what the GOP needs. Plus his self made success is quite different than the wealthy families (Bush, McCain, etc...) running their party.

Anyone care to react to the fact that Kerry and Gore have been tossed out there as potential running mates? Seems pure wishful thinking from the old guard Democrats IMHO and not a surprise to see these "Dream Teams" suggested...though I can't imagine the negative reaction to picking Kerry as a Veep. Well, unless he picked Lieberman. Heh.

If its one of the finalists everyone is talking about (Biden, Bayh), Obama is really shooting himself in the foot. McCain at this point has been able to largely frame the war on his terms - by taking a VP who also voted for the war, Obama has a much harder time going after his opponent on the rational for being there is the first place. Ultimately, if he can't trump McCain on the economy (and the move for more oil probably wasted that), its over. Unfortunately.

If he picks Bayh, he's a fucking idiot because Bayh voted to authorize the war.

Biden says it isn't him.

Does that mean it's Kaine?

I really like Biden for is biting rhetorical style, but I don't know if someone with a biting rhetorical style is the best choice for VP.

Just FYI, I've had three calls from Obama's campaign this week. While not from Barack himself I'm quite certain they were very senior volunteers with his campaign. Keep you fingers crossed for me!

I'm thinking Bayh. Richardson may have taken himself out with his soporific appearances on the Sunday morning circuit. The man just cannot put in a passionate effort to save his life or career.

I was hoping for Sibelius, but absolutely no one thinks she'll get it.

I think that it will be Biden as well.

Also: I was at the announcement in February, and if you are college age at all, just go wearing an Obama shirt and sneak into VIP as a "volunteer". It totes worked then, I got a spot on the ropeline, and an auto of "The Audacity of Hope"

The anticipation is killing me.

A friend of mine has been calling it for Biden for the last several weeks.

I'm still holding out hope for Bill Richardson, but now I'm thinking that an Obama presidency could use him as Secretary of State.
