Wilco Snubs Chicago. NOT!

The Sun-Times ran an article today asking why Wilco isn't opening up the Chicago date of Neil Young's tour. Do they hate us? Are they annoyed we keep bringing that whole Bennett thing back up? Is Tweedy just a cranky-pants?

None of the above. The answer is that the band is actually afraid we might get sick of them. According to the Sun-Times:

Wilco’s publicist Deb Bernadini says the answer is pretty simple: Chicago has heard a lot from its hometown roots-rockers this year. “They just felt it was time for a break,” she says.

So chill out and don't worry about it. Since the band has already announced they should have a new album out in a few months, we're sure you'll be seeing their nudie suits on hometown soil plentyy soon.

Really? You could probably play Yankee Hotel Foxtrot on a loop on the el and Wilco would still sell out concert in Chicago.

You can't fault their logic, they've played here quite a bit in the last year. Especially if one considers their recent multi-concert stint at the Riv. That being said, I'd probably pay to see them every other month were I given the option.

All I really ask is that they play Millenium Park again sometime soon. That show was ridiculously good.

This is why I found the whole Rage vs. Wilco Lolla debate so amusing. Wilco plays here like, what, monthly? End of discussion.
