Alan Keyes to Take on Obama. Again.

After losing the Constitution Party's presidential nomination to radio talk-show host Chuck Baldwin, Alan Keyes, (who also lost the election for Illinois Senate to Barack Obama), is set for a rematch.

America's Independent Party announced yesterday that they've nominated Keyes to be their write-in candidate for president. Said party chairman Tom Hoefling:
We may not have balloons, funny hats, and millions of dollars pouring into our coffers from corporate sponsors, but we have something that is much more important: regular folks – housewives, small business people, factory workers, truck drivers, accountants, executives, pastors, moms, dads – good-hearted people who love their country and want to save it. The Republicans and the Democrats no longer represent ‘We the People.’ That’s why we intend to change American politics from the bottom up, by example.
[Ed.'s Note - Sure, but balloons and party hats wouldn't hurt.]

Ed.'s Note - Sure, but balloons and party hats wouldn't hurt.

Neither would running a candidate who isn't batshit crazy.

Alan Keyes is Exhibit B as to how pathetic the Illinois GOP has been for the past decade.

Exhibit A is currently serving a 6 1/2 year prison sentence.

Didn't they steal that We The People bit from Taxi Driver?

Back for more, eh?

Wow, if the IL GOP is, in fact, THIS desperate..just...wow.

We may not have balloons, funny hats

Oh they have funny hats. They're made of tinfoil and keep out "the rays".

You know that Alan Keyes never conceded defeat in 2004. That's right, he's still running to be your senator Illinois.

I love Alan Keyes so much.

Isn't Independent Party an oxymoron?

"Back for more, eh?

He's running for president. IL has nothing to do with it this time.

My mistake - I didn't read closely enough. Sorry.

This party will endorse candidates who belong to other parties if they have demonstrated that they share our emphasis on America's principles. This party will also let folks affiliate regardless of their voter registration. The party anticipates that state party affiliates will allow folks, regardless of which party they specify on their voter registration, to participate in precinct-level caucuses where candidates are nominated. The term "Independent Party" is most definately not an oxymoron in this case.

The last independent elected President was George Washington. It's time to do it again.

AMAZING! Dr. Keyes is a constitutional scholar and literally destroyed Obama in the Illinois debates. Such unintelligible commentary regarding his "bottom of the totem poll" political achievement is astounding. So, because of so-called "low constituency" we're supposed to believe that a flawed and fallacious opinion, as some commentators here appear to have, that Dr. Keyes isn't the best candidate for the job? It probably has nothing to do with the fact that he's Black and conservative, now would it? Oh, I'm sorry; you don't have a CLUE what either representative category entails, do you? The world is flat, just like most people thought pre-Pythagorean. Simply fascinating!
