Marcus and Ward Up: Not a liberal v. conservative issue. But thanks for playing anyway.

Heritage Foundation is a think tank. Yeah, it's a non-profit, but a think tank that issues white papers. I'd much prefer a think tank that feeds the hungry, for example. I know, crazy, right?

Larry Jones Ministries is a poorly run non-profit that was under investigation.

NRA is an advocacy group. Unless they are feeding the poor with the deer they killed with their AK-47s - I will pass, thanks.

Investigate where your time and money is going. I don't think Heritage and Larry Jones are organizations worthy of MY time or money. Thus, I didn't play, in case I didn't win Bingo.

Hey, I just noticed that "winner take all" part of the rules, i.e., number 4.

I agree that'll scare some people away. They should have made it something like "...the first five people get money sent to their charities." At least that would keep all the money from going to one cause.

I suspect Jels' concern is that the first person to get a bingo gets all the money going to their charity. So unless you win, you have no say over where the money goes.

I don't know if I want to play in a game where, if I lose, my money might go to the Heritage Foundation.

It would have been better if they had stuck with neutral charities, like American Cancer Society or Red Cross, etc.

Take a closer look at the list--which looks like it has about two hundred charities on it.

You will actually find just as many charities associated with the "liberal causes" (e.g., MALDEF, Islamic Relief-USA, etc.) as there are charities associated with conservative causes.

In fact, you can even find near-opposite charities on that list, like searching for antonyms on an sixth-grade test.

My point is that there's something for everyone.

Some you may not have heard of, but there are PLENTY of legitimate ones on there, including: American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, Make-A-Wish, Autism Speaks, Red Cross, Big Bros/Big Sisters, Boy Scouts America/Girl Scouts, Children's Defense Fund, Doctors Without Borders, Farm Aid, Habitat for Humanity, the Humane Society, YMCA/YWCA, World Wildlife Fund, United Way, St. Judes, The Salvation Army, OxFam America...hell, even the NRA!

So before you belittle the list for having ones you've never heard of, please at least acknowledge that there ARE worthy charities on there.

Ummm...did anyone examine the list of non-profits?

The Heritage Foundation?

Larry Jones Ministries?

Yeah, I think I'll just donate my time and money directly to worthy organizations.
