PhotoshopAbuser - I think you are looking for "Wedding Crashers." Tattoos are not for my body but if someone else wants to get one or many, that's fine. Some of them are interesting and good looking but I always wonder if the tattooee thought about what that tatt is going to look like in 30 years.

Meh... Me thinks Chicagoist may have loaded and fired the Outrage Cannon a little prematurely on this one. I mean, I'm as big a fan of self-righteous indignation as the next guy, but you gotta save it for things about which it's really warranted. "If I were a woman and I got a tattoo, I'd choose put it somewhere less than obvious" is, uh, not one of those things.

"The Tribune stylebook" (perhaps it's now "The Trib Stylebook") might a companion manual for balancing material for the young and old. In fact, this Dahl column points out the need to prevent geezer-fication of content. Here is my suggested rule for their manual: "Columns that disparage popular trends among persons under 40 are permitted, but those columns must be authored by by persons under 40. In other words, writers with large prostates, dentures, or mud-flap-type upper arms must find something else to write about."

"Hey, let's get a tattoo, just like everyone else!" "Yeah! That'll show how unique we are!" People get them for a myriad of reasons. I have one tattoo and plan on a second. The one I have marks a very personal anniversary, the second is an axiom that very much incorporates my worldview. Both are text and I designed them very specifically. The Star tattoo is funny to me because it always reminds me of the Russian gangsters in "Eastern Promises", who would eat hipsters alive. Steve Dahl is funny at times, painfully old and irrelevant at others. This would be the latter.

OK, I've read that quote four times now and I still don't see anywhere where the author is "telling" women what he thinks they should do, or stating "what clothing they're 'allowed' to wear." Rather, it seems that he's opining what HE would or wouldn't do if he were a female considering a tattoo. Or am I missing something? If not, lighten up!

I personally am offended by man-boobs, but there you go... That being said, I have seen some dumb-ass tattoos that will definately be lasered off at some point in the near future.
