Smussy: The shelter I volunteer with has just such a policy, but companies like this make deals and arrangements to get around that. Usually, they only bring food that was unserved or pre-packaged like whole loaves of bread, condiments and such. Also whole meals for when people didn't show. They compost scrap food. This is a very simple and very cool idea, I wish them the best.

i was always told in no uncertain terms that shelters couldn't take food like this because of legal issues. if this has been changed, this is awesome.
