It was something of a pitcher's duel at Wrigley until Alfonso Soriano broke a 2-2 tie in the seventh by hitting a solo home run to lift the Cubs past the Phils, 3-2. Harden pitched well but it was Jeff Samardzjia getting the win in relief and Carlos Marmol picking up the save.

White Sox Shutout By Boston
The Pale Hose ran up against the brick wall known as Dice K, as the Boston ace gave up two hits and struck out seven over eight scoreless innings while the White Sox lost 8-0. Javier Vazquez gave up five runs on 10 hits over five and 2/3 innings for the loss. With the loss, the White Sox lead over the Twins has shrunk to just half a game.
