Wayne Evans, of the 3700 block of West Dickens, was charged with aggravated cruelty to an animal today. Witnesses told police they saw Evans hold a kitten by the back of its neck and throw it off a second-story porch. "Police found the kitten, which is about 8 weeks old, lying in the street bleeding from the mouth and unable to move its hind legs." Evans apparently said he threw the cat because it scratched him. A few weeks ago, I saw another sick @#%()*^ stomping on a squirrel and taking pictures of the aftermath. I witnessed this from a window of a house party. Soon enough a blessed soul came in to look after the animal, but could I have called the cops on this guy? That this creature was wild, I wasn't sure.
And I have ten bucks that says just before this kitten scratched him he was playing with it with his hands. The kitten probably thought he was playing and played back, like kittens do. But this idiot got all bent out of shape and tortured it. Bastard.

No, I am not defending these anti-cat actions, for those who would assume. I hope this person, if found guilty, faces the maximum (legal) punishment, the same wish I have about all violent criminals. I am merely pointing out the insanity of acting as though this act deserves overly-harsh punishment--sorry, vengence--out of all proportion to the act.
