touchy subject, i see. here's some other angles to consider instead of getting bent out of shape --

1. i assume you weren't paid to post that.
2. sears headquarters are in hoffman estates, IL. i guess that gives it some local flavor.

however, it just seemed ad-y to me. personal opinion. who cares? i have written things that were certainly ad-ish in their own right. no harm, no foul.

I buy shit from Sears, what's the big deal? Not all the time, but if I'm walking through and see a plain pair of pants or shirt, why the hell not? Especially if it's on sale. And looking at a couple of these sweaters, I might buy them.

But what I want to know is, where does the money go? more recruiting commercials? A new Humvee for the next Auto Show (where they lured teenage boys over by allowing them to play Guitar Hero for free).

Well then clearly all of our posts are advertisements, considering we announce, notify and call attention to things all the live-long day.

Sears and JCPenny comprised the bulk of my grade school clothing. Now I can't remember when I have gone there for anything other than tools which doesn't happen that often. My brother and I loved going to Sears because we got to sit on the lawn tractors if we behaved while shopping. (we didn't get to sit on the tractors that often)

Back to the topic: The cloths look OK, but its not going to get me in the door. I'd rather hit up an Army surplus store for a quarter the price. I'm curious to know if the Army is getting a cut of the sales. Maybe help pay for some armored Hummers or interrogation chambers. Come to think of it Lindy England could model the new diggs.

See If I made fun of Sears like this, yall would be up in arms talking about "there goes Spook, yet again with his New York sensibilities". Any way I kinda liked Sears, even though I only go there now for a watch batteries now. See, while have all those musty memories of the stuffy Walnut Room of the now dead Marshallfields, I have memories of Sears and Carsons were my Momma took me as a youth or as as Daley says, Yhoots. Any way, now when I shop( on a blue moon) downtown I go to Macy's because it reminds me of the NYC!

I think anything is going to look "Searsy" on a white headless torso... I rather like the jackets.

And yes, Army Navy Surplus prices aint what they used to be.

Anything at Sears sucks, but not nearly as much as the 3 Doors Down music video for the National Guard that they play before movies.

I don't know, I once went shopping for a coat, and the coats at the Army surplus store were as expensive as at the department stores!

Yeah, the sheer...searness...of those clothes is like unadvertising.

Two made up words in one sentence. I'm sleepy.

And the reason you couldn't get these things from an Army/Navy surplus store is why?

Oh, you'd rather pay more for crappier quality. I see.

(I will give a shout-out to Craftsman tools. They are great. Craftsman tools, I know you read Chicagoist all the time. Much love!)

Anyone else find it a bit ooky that the US army is "branding" themselves this way?

Because what this society needs is more militarism sexily packaged.

Granted it's sears, so only people buying craftsman toolsets and your grandmother will see it.
