I actually got Ron Karkovice's 1990 game worn away jersey. I wear that jersey to every game I go to. You would not believe the amount of people that ask about it.

I disagree... If you have a player's jersey, and he gets traded away, keep on wearing it - you're still supporting the team. The only exception is if he left on bad terms, a la Sammy Sosa. However, as time increases, so does the value of that jersey. In fact, the more obscure the player was, the cooler the jersey is. If I saw the guy in a Randall Simon jersey, he deserves to be congratulated. That level of admiration would double if it was, say, a 1980's Jody Davis shirt. If that makes me gay, them's the breaks.

Does the quality of the player matter in this? For instance is wearing a Cubs jersey with Banks or Barrett the same thing, or is wearing a Banks jersey exempt because, well, he's Ernie Banks. Would wearing a basketball jersey with Jordan or Erving be, well, "gay". As for the "your name here" jersey's, I agree. I'd rather wear nothing than pretend I'm a big baseball player. Look, mommy, I made the team! That being said, I bought a jersey at a White Sox garage sale of a few years ago of a team coach named Jackson (everyone thinks it's for Bo Jackson). But the way I look at it, there's going to be a guy named Jackson on the White Sox again at SOME point, so... I'll just say I bought it before he changed his number.

So if a guy wears a shirt made by the Ralph Lauren company, is that gay-ish? Ralph's name is on it. If he wears shoes made by the Stacy Adams company is he gay? Tommy Hilfiger clothes, if worn by a man must mean that the man has homosexual tendencies, right? Are you asking if there's a connection between fashion and the Gay community? Oh noes, you know the secret! Get him boys! I wonder when a jersey with a long gone jock goes from being out of date, to ironic, to "throwback" to yard sale? Timeline on this?

I disagree also. Or there ought to at least be an immunity for Bears QB jerseys. You can have my Jim Miller jersey when you pry it from my cold dead hands. A friend of mine still rocks the Cade McNown jersey from time to time. That may be going too far though.

What's worse...wearing the jersey of a player that used to be on your favorite team or wearing your team's jersey with your own name on it? I feel the latter is worse. It's also bad when you spend $200 on a real jersey (i see this mainly in baseball) but then don't go the extra mile to get the real letters and numbers sewn on. On a Sox home jersey, the letters are black with white piping and on a Cubs home jersey they're blue with red. they're not solid black or solid blue and obviously of a smaller font. That to me is also very irritating and it seems like a lot of these out of date jerseys on the Trib slideshow featured those cheap designs. It's like buying a Maserati and then opting for cloth seats and an AM/FM stereo

I've always thought there's a very clear homosexual undercurrent to wearing the jersey of a paticular player. Like he's your boyfriend and he gave it to you, letter-jacket style. That's not to induce gay panic is sports fans or anything, just another dimension to sportos. An awesome rainbow dimension!
