Wining For A Good Cause

2008_09_Mchapoutier.jpgFor over 100 years the Chicago Lighthouse for the Blind has done amazing work attending to the needs of and empowering the blind and visually impaired. But they can't do it without raising funds,

Wednesday, September 17 from 6-9 p.m. at Scoozi (410 W. Huron) and the Lighthouse for the Blind's Young Philanthropists Board are teaming up for an auction of fine wines from 6-9 p.m. Most of the wines for the "Uncorked 2008" event are California varietals, but there is one participating French wine company we want to draw your attention toward. M. Chapoutier practices biodynamic viticulture, believing that organic grape growing produces brighter, better tasting wines. They also are the only vineyard we know of that uses Braille in their labeling (see the photo on the right).

Ticket to the event are $75 and include wine and a buffet throughout the event. A VIP reception from 5-6:30 p.m. has also been scheduled. For $150, VIP guests will have an audience with local sommeliers including Alpana Singh, as well as taste selections chosen for the event by Sam's Wine and Spirits.

Tickets for the event may be purchased here or by calling (312) 997-3679.
