Chicago International Film Festival Passes Now Available

2009_9_10ciff.jpg There are tons of things we love about the autumn, and the Chicago International Film Festival is definitely one of them. This year's edition, the 44th, runs October 16-29 and will include screenings of over 150 films. The full lineup hasn't been released yet but the festival site does offer a sneak peek. The promise of new movies from Brits Terence Davies and Mike Leigh and local fave Joe Swanberg are as exciting as a brand new sidebar to the festival, Green Screen, "a celebration of our natural environment, the power and artistry of filmmaking, and the intersection between the two."

Festival passes are now on sale. For maximum enjoyment, a pass is the way to go. For example, $110 gets you a Moviegoer Pass, ten admissions for $11 per ticket. Reasonable and splittable. As we mentioned before most screenings this year will take place at AMC River East 21 and AMC 600 N. Michigan (recently the Landmark Century had been the main theater). With the short walk between the two venues, CIFF aims to create a more European-festival ambiance, holding discussions and receptions at nearby restaurants and clubs. This means you won't have to stand around the lobby gabbing awkwardly when the movie's over.

Stay tuned for plenty of CIFF coverage throughout the festival. We're gonna watch movies till our brains turn to mush!
