For a guy pocketing $4.75 million, you'd think he'd post better than a 4.39 ERA. That said, it's better than Zito's 5+ ERA, but Marquis pulls in more dough than Tim Lincecum (possible NL Cy Young winner this year), who makes a paltry $405,000.

I used to feel that way about Marquis...when are they going to get rid of him? but he is a 5th starter and generally they're not great. I think he's actually pretty good among other 5th starters in baseball. he and howry won't make the playoff roster though, that's for damn sure.

when the hell are the Cubs going to get rid of Marquis? He's the fifth starter in a five-man rotation -- I can't think of any fifth starters that are better than mediocre. These two, IMO should definitely be left off the playoff roster. Rest assured that they will be.

Is 4 runs really a spanking? You used the same word yesterday to describe the Sox beating the Yankees but then last night the sox also lost by 4 runs. I'd say that at a minimum you need a 7 run lead to consider it a spanking. if you need a grand slam and a 3 run just to tie things up, you're being spanked.
