Lake County Sheriff Mark Curran says rising crime is due to Chicago's role as a "sanctuary" for illegal immigrants. He says there's only so much he can do to stop "the terror inflicted by many of these illegal aliens." And then the fun started.
Curran, who wants Lake County law enforcement to have deportation powers, complained that Illinois and Chicago have "shown little interest in cooperating" with Immigration and Customs Enforcement. "Throw the bums out of Springfield and Washington but treat the illegal immigrants with love and respect," he said. "How many public school kids did we have to bury last year because of Mayor Daley's inability to keep a lid on crime even with a chief of police that earns more than $320,000 a year?"
Mayor Daley disputed Curran's claims. "Immigrants do not commit the high percentage of crime that sometimes those anti-immigrant groups [claim]," he said. He added that Chicago's "past, present and future" is as a city of immigrants.

Daley & the rest of Illinois' pols have their heads in the sand on this one.
The illegals are driving this city & country to the brink.
They have taken all the entry level jobs away from legal poor people in this country. They work for below minimum wage & live 2-4 families in one apartment. Those lost jobs are causing a crime increase among the poor, especially the poor blacks who are probably getting the worst of this.
The second group getting the shaft are the middle class construction workers. If you went around to all the construction that went on the North Side for the last 10 years, you would see that most of the work was done by illegals, badly!
The huge increase in black on black crime is directly proportional to the increase in illegal immigration.
The third & most important group getting screwed is the taxpayers. We have had to build huge numbers of schools for these people & their children. They go to County Hospital & it costs us because most don't pay taxes, but work for cash..
Few have driver's licenses, fewer have insurance, guess who pays for the hospital bills & vehicle damage?
Then there's this insane catering to them with their useless & worthless language.
If you want to speak Spanish, then go back where you came from.
As for Daley's idiotic crack that this city was built by immigrants, they were legal immigrants!
There was a huge country & plenty of land & jobs then, 100+ years ago!
Just this last week, the CPD had to close down almost a mile of Clark St. in Rogers Park due to the annual, drunken parade of car cruising by Mexicans celebrating, well damned if I know what they're celebrating. I do know that several years ago, the Mexican ambassador to the US was in Chicago in September & he was furious & disgusted with the way they treated the Mexican flag & their general drunken behavior.
As Royko wrote a dozen or so years ago, "The problem with Mexico is that it's full of Mexicans"!
They are turning this into a third world country!
And don't even try to tell me this isn't a secret policy of the Mexican government to reconquer the land they claim was stolen from them.
It is!
Thank God someone in the Chicago area is speaking against the absurd "sanctuary city" policy.
It is about time that politicians and other officials shake loose from the fear of being called "racist" or "xenophobic." Illegal immigration is illegal for good reason.

God forbid we should treat anyone with "love and respect".
I have a sneaking suspicion that illegals wouldn't take the time to move all the way up to greater Chicago if there weren't people willing to hire them. Damn these terrorist contractors.
