Guys...guys guys. . I wasn't being a music snob or even commenting on the performance. . .I love Thriller, where did I say that I didn't, if I did, slap me! I wasn't at the show even to comment on the performance at all, it just looks via the photographs campy. . and frankly many zombies are adorned in new fangled hipster fashion. And, there's nothing wrong with being a hipster, I was just saying that it was probably too much for me. . needed a mellow weekend.

Hipster concerns? Irony? Perhaps I am much slower than I realize, but I was there and thought the performance was merely a group of musicians paying tribute to a collection of great pop tunes--whether from the Jackson 5 or MJ's later albums-- via deconstruction and re-imagination--you know, what musicians in every modern genre do all the time. Amazing performance and pretty bold.

Lamgray- or you're not old enough. I'm 48, and I loved it. And, it was campy, but in the Susan Sontag sense. Back when "Thriller" came out, I was a young hipster and (I thought) too cool for pop music, including MJ. Glad the music snob phase is behind me.

the best part was that a lot of the hipsters didn't get it. Which with their love of all things meme, you'd think they would. Plastic Crimewave was FUN and Rhymefest was on point. The zombie horde was just a great addition to what is, easily, my favorite musical event of the summer.

@Iamgray - the best part was that a lot of the hipsters didn't get it. Thriller was out when they were born. Robbie & Rhymefest are really good at what they do so it was actually sincere in it's hillbilly/hip-hop tribute way. I had people standing around me that were confused and at one point scared.

Liza Minelli, Diana Ross, Liz Taylor are all MJ's pals, so I think that's why they were in the show ... I'm still a bit mystified -- and slightly scared -- by Princess Di though. After yesterday, I really wish Fulks would release that fabled album of Michael Jackson covers though!

That was 6000 different kinds of awesome. I tried to describe the entire tribute to a friend this morning and I couldn't find the words. Post soon - need to find some way to explain "Going Back to Indiana" and Liz Taylor's head on a stick.
