It was like shooting fish in a barrel for police at the Kane County Courthouse today. Officers worked with prosecutors to identify 38 drivers who had revoked or suspended licenses and had court dates today. So undercover officers set up shop at the courthouse and waited for these offenders to drive themselves to the courthouse for their appearance. And it worked. All told, officers ticketed 10 offenders during the sting and towed their cars.

Because too many people were showing up their court appearances here in Cook County. Good job giving all of us another reason to avoid the courthouse.
This is such an obvious example of "juking the stats," where the police need high arrest quotas and impounds, so they prey on petty offenses - often at the expense of alienating large groups of people. In this case, ticketing and fining a group of people highly at risk of turning back to crime, on their way to fulfilling their lawful appearance requirements. CPD ftw.
