Cop in Critical Condition After Shootout

At 5:30 this morning, officers from the Narcotics and Gang Intelligence Units executing a warrant on the South Side and were met by gunfire. One unidentified officer was shot in the head and chest, and is in critical condition. Police returned fire and shot the suspect, who is also in critical condition. UPDATE: The officer, Nathaniel Taylor Jr., died at 6:02 p.m. from his injuries. [Trib]
