Fey+Palin=Our Heads Exploding

Bill Zwecker has been following the story of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin possibly popping up on SNL one of these days to have a little fun with former Second City star Tina Fey and Fey's Palin impression. Says the Z-Man, "I'm hearing some sort of Palin tweak of Fey's American Express commercials is in the works. While next weekend's 'Saturday Night Live' will be a rerun, it is possible Palin could appear Thursday on the first of NBC's 'Weekend Update' specials in prime time." Well, that'll be interesting, as Fey has no love for Palin, saying at the Emmy Awards, “I want to be done playing this lady November 5th."

I'm betting it's all wishful thinking. But it makes for good copy.

I hope not. I don't want to see this lunatic 'humanized'. Her rants about Obama and terrorism have revealed just how whackadoo she really is. I'd rather watch Tina mock her than see her awkward attempts to appear like less of a fool.

Comedy has no need to be fair or balanced. Sorry Sarah.

I guess she has no choice but to try to laugh at herself now that we're all laughing at her.

I'd love to see 'dueling palins' ala brando/belushi. that would be comic!

well said pantagrapher ... that said, SNL should just tell her to "be herself" if she gets up on stage.

Reminds me of Mike Myers playing Mick Jagger next to Mick Jagger playing Keith Richards. That was a great one.

The rant about terrorism is actually the smartest thing she has said. Bill Ayers was a terrorist and is unrepentant. Palling around with a guy who said "I wish I had planted more bombs" is pretty inexcusable for a politician of whatever stripe.

As with everything in politics, they way to check your judgment is to flip it over.

Imagine McCain being buddy buddy with Jim Strawman, a guy whose group God's Army blew up abortion clinics in the 1980s. He later did an interview in which he said his ideals were right and that he wished he planted more bombs then.

You would [and should] go completely apeshit.

But it is way more fun to get your hate on, so please, don't let me get in the way.

whymustiregister, your post is thrown out because its premise is false.

Ayers never said "I wish I had planted more bombs." What he said was "I wish we had done more" regarding Vietnam.

But please, don't let ME get in the way of your fear porn.

I'd love to see 'dueling palins' ala brando/belushi. that would be comic!

Actually that was Belushi and Peter Boyle ("Young Frankenstein", "Everybody Loves Raymond") playing dueling Brandos.

Dueling Cockers, with Belushi and Joe Cocker, is a classic.

Less classic: Amy Poehler's Hillary Clinton being joined by actual Hillary Clinton.

Awkward and dreadful: Tina Fey having to share a stage with Sarah Palin.

Don't do it, SNL- the meager seconds when Tina Fey is on your show are the few that remain watchable. Don't ruin any of them with an attempt at "fairness".

The rant about terrorism is actually the smartest thing she has said.

You're right. Think about how TERRIFYING that is.

Bill Ayers was a terrorist and is unrepentant.

Really? So why isn't he in jail? Oh, because of COINTEPRO. I guess all the unrepentant terrorism passion has gone to waste getting tens of millions for Chicago Public Schools.

Palling around with a guy

He hosted "a coffee" for him in 1995 and donated 200 dollars to his campaign in 2002. There's no personal link between them. You want to play guilt by association games? Really?

-Charles Keating
-Reverend Hagee
-G. Gordon Liddy

All much more connected to John McCain than Ayers is to Obama. Liddy is a sociopath who told listeners on his radio show to "aim for the head" when shooting at federal officers.

pretty inexcusable for a politician of whatever stripe.

I'm more concerned by a candidate so desperate and grasping he has to resort to bull-crap smears and out and out fabrications to gain ground. Stop being informed by Sean Hannity, get the facts not the noise.

I'd say Albany's suitable pwnd whymustiregister, not like it's too hard to refute such McCarthyist babble. Their ideas on any kind of policy are completely bankrupt so it's time to start up with the Rovian tactics of making shit up and repeating it until it sticks. Exactly like Bush did to McCain back when they were competing for the Rebublican nomination.

Do not forget McCain's association and involvement with the U.S. Council for World Freedom which funded and armed Latin American death squads and totalitarian strong men responsible for the death and torture of thousands.

How many people have died directly or indirectly to McCain's actions from his napalming of villages in Vietnam to his support of invading the nation of Iraq? And he wants us to think of Bill Ayers as some sort of Carlos the Jackal or Osama bin Laden?

I have no love for the tree-hugging, guilt-ridden, self-righteous liberal goofballs spewing their emotionally-driven bullshit. However, I swear to God, these conservative nutballs, they just make shit up!

Really? So why isn't he in jail?

Well, one reason is because he had a powerful daddy. Isn't that often the case, even for would-be revolutionaries?

I think the Obama link to Ayers is, to put it mildly, desperate and overhyped. I am satisfied that as far as Obama goes, there is no there there regarding Ayers.

But Ayers, despite all his good work in last two decades, apparently remains proud of setting bombs in this country, actions that seem to clearly violate our democratic philosophy (were he a true revolutionary in the Founding Father sense, he would have worked hard to win public support for his anti-government violence). And let us not forget that his daddy played a key role in getting Ayers into the higher circles of Chicago civic society. Don't believe me, though--look it up for yourself.

Another thing about Ayers: In terms of his revolutionary terrorism, he and his colleagues failed to achieve even a sliver of their goals. No significant policy change came from their violence. In fact, one can argue Ayers and his co-terrorists, were counter-productive, helping to set in motion the backlash against the left that, indirectly (and as one of many factors) helped set the stage for the conservative revival of the late 1970s, a trend that reached its height with the election of W. Not that I am a pacifist--far from it--but Ayers, in his life as a bomber, was a complete fucking failure. Illiterate Islamic nihilists have affected more change than he did.

Actually, Bill Ayers turned himself in to authorities in 1980 to face decades in prison. The charges were eventually dropped due to the illegal tactics on the part of the FBI. You should actually read up on a subject before spouting nonsense.

And you're right: Bill Ayers as a revolutionary accomplished nothing besides blowing up a few toilets. He's a nobody in that regard and should be forgotten. Only the desperate trying to save a political campaign only care about Bill Ayers and his meaningless connection to Senator Obama.
