more than can be said for our rivals, which i'm sure ultimately drives them nuts. I can speak only for the Cardinals, but that is simply not the case in St Louis. See, Cards fans are proud of the winning--second in World Series titles to the Yankees, for instance--not the joke of losing for so long. Yeah, some Cards fans think the team should get more national coverage, more games on ESPN, TBS, etc., but I've never met any who were too worried about it. Sorry--not trying to be mean; really, I'm not--only factual.

i'm more proud than anything else that the cubs are a regular pop culture reference point, regardless of what it's for. more than can be said for our rivals, which i'm sure ultimately drives them nuts.

You failed to post this part of the article: ...Hendry said he had spoken to the Dodgers and told an official to notify him if there was any damage so the Cubs could pay for it. "The clubhouse people told me it was about the fourth or fifth time it has happened this year," Hendry said.... So, unlike what you alluded to, the Cubs will be paying for it. Plus, one would think that if this really is the 4th or 5th time this thing has been busted just this season, the Dodgers would be moving it to a harder-to-break location.

Lee took several really good hacks but when it was Ramirez's turn he couldn't get the job done of breaking it all the way open. Soriano just started swinging well underneath the pipe and around it, missing it completely. DeRosa finally landed a blow that opened the pipe up.
