Attack on Woman at Elmhurst College Called Hate Crime

elmhurstcollege.jpgA woman was pistol whipped last night in a basement bathroom of the Schaible Science Center at west suburban Elmhurst College, triggering an hour long campus lock down. The attacker was described as a 5 foot, 8 inch tall male, wearing a black ski mask. The victim -- a Muslim -- says that about a week ago someone had written "anti-Muslim graffiti" and a swastika on her locker. Officials also found anti-Muslim graffiti in the bathroom where she was attacked, and have now labeled the incident a hate crime. The woman's father described the incident to the Tribune:

"[The attacker] said, 'Now who is going to protect you?' " the victim's father said. " 'And she said that, 'God will protect me ... You can kill me, but you cannot take my soul.' She fought for her life, and that's how God saved her."
Coincidentally enough, earlier that day students had held a "diversity rally" because of what they claim are a growing number of incidents involving discrimination especially towards Muslims -- even though there are only 25 Muslims amongst the 3,300 people enrolled at the school. In light of the attack, students organized a sit-in this afternoon to help convince the college to improve campus security. [Pioneer Local, S-T, Trib]

"A growing number of incidents..."

This is just abominable.

This is the kind of crap that Palin beast is promoting when she yaks on about Obama "palling around with terrorists" and when
she gets the crowd all riled up and they're shouting "Kill Him" and other hateful things, she ignores it and says nothing.

Labeling something a "hate crime" is insane. Let's all start legislating motive.

Seriously, Ingrid?

What kind of college has lockers?

Abominable doesn't begin to cover it; hate crimes against Muslims have gone up tremendously, are underreported and don't get the national coverage other crimes get (ie: the event a couple of weeks ago in Ohio where some unidentified assholes decided to spray a 10 year old girl with pepper spray through the window of a mosque during the holidays).

Where's the outrage here, like in the gay high school post?

All of a sudden we're attacking Governor Sara Palin just from this article? What we need to do is say, "Yes, the college does need more help in security so that this doesn't happen again. I'm so sorry that it happened to this young lady. I wouldn't want that done to my worst enemy. I hope the person who did this gets caught, because no human being should be treated with hate, nor venomous words be streaming from people's mouths at another. It's sad when one horrible hate incident spurs more hate everywhere else. We should all be ashamed of ourselves for even thinking wrong of another, judging another of what they think or how they worship God. Whatever the article is titled, it doesn't matter. What matters is that it is known of what is going on in our colleges or else where in our country/world. Protect those we see are being picked on. Always travel in pairs. But, most of all, love each other.

Based on the fact that several other "hate crime" incidents of recent times turned out to be done by the so-called victims, I'm calling bullshit on this one!

Her locker was vandalized twice & now she's attacked in a basement?

MORE BULLSHIT!

She wrote it on her locker & probably knocked her head against a wall to cause a concussion.

EVEN MORE BULLSHIT!

Or have you all forgotten the Trinity U. incident a few years ago in Deerfield or the New York one with a noose, that the victim had placed on a door?

I think that guy really is Scooter Libby.

DePaul and Loyola both have lockers in classroom buildings. Commuting and off-campus students use them.

It's perfectly ok to hate muslims though. After all, they have weird names and are terrorists and don't love Jesus. Don't worry, soon their religion will be illegal and we'll all be safe to worship in whatever church we like.

There has been alot of made up attacks in the recent past. Those that do report fake incidents make it much harder on the real victims. The one in New York was a respected proffesor well respected by a certain crowd(liberal) who love to portray everyone as victims. Ingrid trying to blame Gov Palin is pathetic. Obama must be responsible for drug use and drug violence since he used drugs.

One of the reasons I think this is a phony is that only her locker was tagged.
More than once!

Lockers are narrow, it requires control to only tag the one locker & not the adjacent ones.

Most haters are slobs when they do this, they don't color inside the lines like older children do, they go all over the place, like a three year old does.
But when only one locker is vandalized, it can be only one of two things: She's doing it herself & doesn't want to vandalize any other lockers or if there really is an attack, the attacker hates her personally, but not because of religion, but because of some other reason.

Give this one a week & we'll find out if I'm correct.

user-pic

If you click on one of the actual articles, you will see that the graffiti was "scrawled", as in written with a marker. It isn't hard at all to stay within the dimensions of a locker with a marker.

I'm surprised at all of the "she did it herself" arguments here. I'm not saying that she couldn't have, but there's no real evidence outside of (1) colleges don't have lockers (this one does) and (2) a racist tagger would be too sloppy to just get her locker with spraypaint (this MAY be true but with a sharpie not at all).

So the only argument left is that this girl isn't special enough to be discriminated against multiple times. That's just bullshit. That's like saying that X wasn't pretty enough to be raped or Y wasn't wealthy enough to be mugged.

The racial discourse is in a really weird place in this country right now. I hear a lot of people who are offended at being called racist, even though they haven't actually been called racist. I don't know if that makes sense the way I wrote it, but a lot of folks seem so worried that Blacks or Liberals or Muslims think that they're racist that they're on the defensive before the issue even comes up.

It doesn't help that some of Obama's aides and staffers are calling people racist because of slip-of-the-tongue gaffes and occasional improper
usuage of words, and it doesn't help that McCain and Palin are saying it's Obama himself saying it, and saying that he's calling everyone who disagrees with him a racist.

Not that presidential politics have anything to do with this poor girl. There's just a lot of "the boy who cried racist" in the air right now, so I think that people might be all too willing to overlook the real thing.

The quote from her father, though, is total BS. Who talks lke that?

I'm not blaming Palin for the attacks.

I'm blaming her for her hate filled twisted rhetoric that is contributing to an atmosphere that seems to condone ignorance and this leads to violence.

So far, the zeitgeist of her campaign and stump speeches are ignorant and hateful. I think it's reasonable to bring it up in this context. She is a contributing factor...and anyone like her who participates in that kind of logic, are contributing to the violence.

And now today is a story that the Columbia prof is claiming that she was unjustly fired.
http://tinyurl.com/4lgqao

Please be aware that many of these alleged hate crimes turn out to be hoaxes.

That's right. Swastikas drawn by the "victim." Nooses hung up by the "oppressed." The "N" word written by alleged target of the "N" word. It happens frequently, especially on college campuses.

No, I am not being sarcastic. I am not saying the claims of this woman are fraudulent, but please set your bullsh*t detector on high.

And give me a break with the myth about all the "....hate crimes against Muslims." That's been debunked so many times it's ridiculous.

Ingrid how about some examples with qoutes of palins hate speech. Or is just your wishful interpetation.

user-pic

please cite info when you say something has been debunked. I don't mean a few examples, I mean statistical info showing that more often than not, hate crime claims turn out to be false.

A few years ago, there was that Duke University rape case with the stripper and the lacrosse team. It turned out that the girl lied. That case was debunked, but it did not mean that there are never rapes on college campuses, that any stripper or sex worker who claims to have been assaulted on the job is lying, or anything like that. It meant that one girl's story was debunked.

I've never witnessed a hate crime, but since September 11th, I've seen a lot of hateful shit, and a lot of people don't think twice before being rude, untoward, aggressive, and outright threatening towards Muslims, Arabs, Middle-Easterners, and others who look the part. This is anecdotal. This is what I've seen, from strangers and occasionally from friends and family, the type of people who should know me well enough to think that I won't tolerate it. If this is the type of shit that I will see around me, in a fairly-liberal, sometimes-tense-but-always-multicultural metropolitan city like Chicago, I can certainly believe that sometimes, when I'm not around, worse shit happens.

EIR,

Ive seen some wonderful videos of muslims cutting the heads off of people while yelling god is great.(aint religion grand) But Im not jumping to any conclusions. Just this week the 17 yo from palos hieghts admitted to lying about a rape, abduction. Last year on the northside a women faked her abduction to get away from an arrainged marriage. It is more common then it should be. I dont see a young girl being assaulted telling her attacker "god will protect me you can kill me but you cannot take my soul" I hope I am wrong but it happening the same day as a diversity rally I think someone might have been looking for some attention.

user-pic

According to the FBI hate crimes database there are about 200 reported hate crimes a year where there is a single motive and it is Islamophobia (and this is completely ignoring cases where there are multiple motives for a crime, and cases where the motive is Ethnicity or Nationality, which are often interrelated). You have listed about 3 examples (and not all of them have been in a single year, so our sample size is about 3 out of 550-600). Just because you hear about a few people making it up, doesn't mean that everyone is. The vast majority of victims are just that.

Plus you're mentioning videos of extremists in a brutal war zone cutting off people's heads. We're talking about a college student from Elmhurst here. I don't think her views on religion are the same as theirs.

And the girl in Palos Heights, by the way, who lied about her abduction and rape, set the whole town on a witchhunt for a Muslim man that didn't exist. Why did she do it, do you think? Why wasn't the man she invented black or white or East Asian or Central American? Because Muslims, Middle Easterners and Arabs are all real easy targets right now, and she thought everyone would believe her/love her more if she accused one.

So when the girl came home barefoot and looking beaten, should we have demonized her right away, because sometimes (say 1 in every few hundred times) a girl might lie about being raped?

No, we should have compassion for the victim and try to help. If suspected criminals are presumed innocent until PROVEN guilty, then I'd like to think that the victims of crimes should be as well.

And if AFTER all that it turns out someone was lying, well then fuck em, and if they cost the taxpayers any money in their sad little cry for attention, then they should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

EIR, how do you know the religion of the man the girl in palos hieghts made up. Are you assuming something?

I am actually a student at Elmhurst College. For you to believe that this girl actually defaced her own locker is something totally unbelievable. Also I think by mentioning Palin and Obama and other political things in the comments of this article takes away from the reality of the situation.

Why is it unbelievable that she defaced her own locker?

A professor at NYU hung a noose on her own doorframe & claimed racists did it.

A student at Trinity U. in Deerfield, who is an African American woman, was charged with a hate crime and disorderly conduct after confessing to sending three letters that contained racial slurs and threats against minority students.
It turned out she was unhappy at the school, but her parents insisted she stay.

In 2002, three black freshmen confessed to writing racial slurs in a residence hall at the University of Mississippi. … A similar incident occurred at Northwestern University in Evanston in November 2003, when anti-Hispanic graffiti was scrawled on a wall and a poster near a student's dorm room. The student, who described himself as the son of an interracial couple, told police he was the victim of racist harassment and a knife attack before confessing the reports were fake.

In fact, Google has 175,000 hits for the term "phony hate crimes".

user-pic

I never said anything about the religion of the man in Elmhurst, only the motivation, which was HER religion.

You have now listed 4 events from the last six years that proved to be false. 4 events out of literally thousands of hate crimes that are reported each year (about 4500 in 2006, with an average of 200 being perpetrated against Muslims)

It isn't unbelievable that she defaced her own locker, but it's VERY, VERY, UNLIKELY

And because you like to play loose with numbersm, Fed Up/Scooter Libby, type "real hate crimes" into google, you get 2,810,000 hits.

So first it was totally unbelievable & now it's unlikely she did it herself.

But the fact that she claims there have been other incidents directed at her, but unseen by others is why this sounds so wrong.
She's the only target there, but no one ever saw any of the graffiti before she did?

And of course there are more real hate crimes, but only 200 against Muslims. That's about 11% of the total.
But 68% are against Jews.
And it wasn't the Jews that destroyed the WTC in NYC, it was Muslims!
You don't see Jews tagging mosques around here, but whenever there's a temple defaced, it's either a wannabee Nazi or a Muslim teenager.
Gee, what a coincidence!

And the girl in Palos Heights, by the way, who lied about her abduction and rape, set the whole town on a witchhunt for a Muslim man that didn't exist. Why did she do it, do you think? Why wasn't the

Thats taken from your response EIR your the one playing with the truth. Some people like yourself love to play the victim. your pathetic. read your writing and read what I wrote goof

user-pic

And white people have burned down black churches. And the black kids who sit on my stoop try to intimidate me whenever I go into my house because I'm a white guy in their neighborhood (Jewish, really, but I'm not here to split hairs). Everyone gets the short end of the stick sometimes, whether you're the minority or the majority.

I'm not playing the victim; I'm just not going to demonize the victim like you two (Scooter and Fed Up).

I never said it was totally unbelievable that she did it to herself (scroll up and read, it's easy!)... but I have said from the beginning that it was very unlikely.

And why bring up the World Trade Center? And why bring up videos of soldiers overseas cutting off American heads. What the fuck does any of it have to do with a Muslim college student from Elmhurst?

I never brought up the world trade center. Still unwilling to admit you made up the bit about the made up offenders religion in palos hieghts arent you. Thats ok we just know you like to make things up and then lie about it when it is pointed out.

fed up...

.how about Palin's claim that Obama is "Pallin' around with terrorists" Have you seen the footage of people being interviewed at her rallies who think that Obama is actually a terrorist?

Do you have any idea how crap like that gets the republican base worked up? Have you SEEN some of the things that people at her rallies say? The signs they carry? How about the one guy with the monkey stuffed animal with the Obama bumper sticker taped to its head?

She does nothing to stop the hatred when shouts of "Kill Him" arise from the crowd.

Or how about when guest speakers at her rallies use Obama's middle name in a pejorative way? This contributes to people putting signs in their yard about Obama being a "Musli(n)".

Wishful thinking my ass. Do you think that I enjoy seeing this or hearing this? It's heartbreaking to me. My children are mixed race....I don't like living in a world where hate filled rhetoric gets the lowest common denominator of society worked up to the point where you start contemplating the violent past of this country towards people of color and you start thinking that it could happen again.

Hey Fed Up,

Get off elr’s back and do a little research of your own.

http://www.southtownstar.com/news/1214411,palos-heights-sex-assault-1010.article

Direct Quote:
“The case shocked the community and stoked anti-Arab sentiments in the area after she described her attacker as an olive-skinned man between the ages of 35 and 40, and helped police draw up an artist’s impression of the alleged attacker.

Leaders in the Southland's Arab-American community expressed relief no crime was committed.

"I'm glad it's all made up," said Mohammed Sahloul, president of the Bridgeview-based Mosque Foundation, which displayed police-issued sketches of the supposed suspect. "If anything it proves that we don't have this problem as much as other communities."

Still, the teen's accusations fed the already-skewed perception of Arab-Americans, Sahloul said.”

While yes religion isn’t explicitly mentioned, we all know what “A-rab” means don’t we.

So Sean all blacks are now baptist and whites are protestant, nice world you live in where you can tell a persons religion from an artists impression.

And why bring up the World Trade Center? And why bring up videos of soldiers overseas cutting off American heads. What the fuck does any of it have to do with a Muslim college student from Elmhurst?

Well it's a red herring irrevelant to the discussion but it makes bigoted scum feel like their arguments are correct and that they can connect nearly 2 billion muslims with some bizarro guilt by association trip. Do we want to get into how many people Christians have killed in the past? How about the good ole' USA? How about Israel? Is getting your head cut off worse than seeing your whole family obliterated by an invading army's bomb?

Ingrid, Bill Ayers did bomb buildings that is terrorism.
Ingrid have you been to any protests where George bush has been burned in effigy. Yes political discourse in this country is scary but it is not a one way street.Democratic rallys are just as stupid.
I do agree that the ignorance of many is being exploited. This is also not a one way street. Dems have exploited the ignorant urban poor just as much as the GOP exploits ignorance of the rural poor. Unfourtantley Dems feel only backwoods hicks are ignorant and GOP feels the same about urban ghetto dwellers. people choose sides and then dig in.

Ingrid how about the examples of hate speech by Palin.

I’m sorry. I thought the hyphen and quotation marks were strong enough to denote derision. I’ll remember next time to put !!WARNING! SARCASM ALERT!!! before my sentences to indicate when I do not mean exactly what I write. Thanks for your help on this intense failure of my writing style (shit I forgot it again).

What I meant through the intractable-for-yourself layers of my comment was this girl knew exactly what she was doing; attempting to place blame farther from herself by castigating her “perpetrator” as an Arab-looking man. By being the victim of a crime by a Middle-Easterner, whom a large number of people in this country seem to immediately despise as they make the associative leap of Arab->Muslim->Terrorist, she can seem even more victimized. It was an intentional ploy, especially in an area with a very substantial Middle-Eastern and Muslim population.

Was that spelled out enough, or shall I draft up a few charts?

Ingrid, Bill Ayers did bomb buildings that is terrorism.

lol
Ayers isn't running for President if I recall. I wonder how long until nutty neocons dig up info on say....Obama's Hyde Park barber? After all he would have been around him more than Ayers...lol.

fed up,

You don't seem to be able to grasp how the rhetoric that Palin uses at her rallies can be dangerous.

She may not be that bright....but she's bright enough to know that when she states that "Obama is pallin' around with terroristS" she knows what she's doing.

She brought up ACORN with Rush Limbaugh recently. She says she, and I quote "has nothing to lose by attacking Obama". She KNOWS what this does to the ignorant republican base, she knows how this riles them up and she has no problem with it. Most of these people don't even know what ACORN is and btw,McCain was at an ACORN rally in 2006 and many republicans have aligned themselves with the group. But somehow there are hateful people out there who think that ACORN is an acronym for terrorist.

Also, I think that Palin's affiliation with AIP is way more insidious than the fact that Obama served on a committee with Ayers. Have you heard some of the hate coming out of the mouths of AIP members? They don't even want to be part of this country and they have the nerve to question Obama's dedication to this country?

When you say you want examples of her hate speeches...what do you want? Do you want an example of how she referred to him as a N***** and he should by lynched? Are you that literal?

And are you STILL defending this woman? That is so 5 minutes ago.

I feel for you sean your small mindedness needs to realize.
The majority of Arab Americans are Christian.

Only 24% are muslim.

*per the Arab American institute

So it is wrong and ignorant of EIR to assume by looking at picture that someone is muslim.

Ingrid none of those are examples of hate speech no matter how much you want to twist it. When I say I would like examples of hate speech actual examples of hate speech will do. I am not saying that I believe these rallys for either party are good examples of democracy in action.
Navin the ayers comment was a response to what ingrid stated. Axelrod has stated Obama and Ayers are friendly Ayers did committ acts of terrorism, it has nothing to do with the campaign but it is true Obama has palled around with a terrorist. What ACORN has done in Indiana is shameful,. AIP I had never heard of until about a month ago they seem like a crazy group. It is these sad attacks on every past speaking apperance or client that will lead most qualified canadites in the future to feel it is not worth the trouble to run for office

P.S. Ingrid I notice you still havent shown any examples of a 12yo being charged as an adult like you claim is happening in the post on the bus shooting. outrageous claims like calling something hate speek or made up 12yo being charged as adults make it hard to take anything said by you as more than just attention grabbing statements with no foundation in fact.

Do you really not get it? Really? Really? Alright, let’s grab an important sentence from my last post.

By being the victim of a crime by a Middle-Easterner, whom a large number of people in this country seem to immediately despise as they make the associative leap of Arab->Muslim->Terrorist, she can seem even more victimized.

Now do you see when I use the phrase “a large number of people,” you can assume from the terminology and context that this large number of people does not include myself. If I believed that, I would have used the pronoun “we” or the collective subject “myself and others.” By using the term “a large number of people” I’m being dissociative, pulling myself out of that group. I am well aware of the fact that not all Arabs are Muslim, saying so would be such an essentialist and collectivist argument that any point I was attempting to make would be rendered moot.

What I am calling attention to is the fact that many people (again NOT MYSELF, and from the context of his comments, not elr either) do make the associative leap of Arab=Muslim and then make the associative leap of Muslim=Terrorist. This girl was attempting to whip up that fervor. Ask a few Christian Arabs if they have been in some way harassed or threatened because of their race; if they’ve been called terrorists, Osama, or some other Islamophobic slur even though they are not Muslim. I know plenty who have, and if you asked a few I’m sure they have too.

Navin,

http://forums.signonsandiego.com/showthread.php?t=60075

And I'm sure you can do your own googling. Up until around 10 years ago, they could try an 8 year old as an adult. Now, I believe the cut off is 13. Still, in my opinion, ludicrous when you consider that the whopping majority of kids that are tried as adults are either developmentally delayed and/or come from families where the total yearly income is $10,000.

And you might not consider what Palin says as hate speech, but I do. She is fostering hate and she knows it. She's going to do anything to get those votes, even if it means losing her dignity to do it. If you don't think that what she's doing is inciting hate and bigotry, then that's your deal.

from wiki:
Hate speech is a term for speech intended to degrade, intimidate, or incite violence or prejudicial action against a person or group of people based on their race, gender, age, ethnicity, nationality, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, language ability, moral or political views, socioeconomic class, occupation or appearance (such as height, weight, and hair color), mental capacity and any other distinction that might be considered by some as a liability. The term covers written as well as oral communication and some forms of behaviors in a public setting. It is also sometimes called antilocution and is the first point on Allport's scale which measures prejudice in a society.

Sean you protest to much. So your blaming the supposed ignorance of others for your statement.

While yes religion isn’t explicitly mentioned, we all know what “A-rab” means don’t we.

You know better but the ignorant masses think "A-rab" and assume muslim. and then those same ignorant masses think muslim= terrorist. My how much smarter and more evolved you are. those damn ignorant masses.

Ingrid, are you really going to use Wiki: as a source we may disagree but I did think better of you. But going with that definition do you consider REV Wrights God damn america sermon that incited his followers hate speech. Remeber Obama didnt have a problem with Rev Wright until his sermons became public knowledge. And no I dont consider saying Obama was pallin around with terrorist hate speech. Some times the truth hurts.

So your commenting on a law you believe was corrected 10 years ago but still wasnt the law in ILL. a Sandiego article, the name of the blog is chicagoist I would have settled for any Illinois case. Your original statment was about 10yo then you backtracked to 12yo and now you are still wrong because as I stated in the original post in Ill. only a 15 or 16yo can be charged as an adult in a small number of circumstances and yes shooting and killing someone is one of the circumstances.

Here is an example of hate speech.

Rick Beltram, Spartanburg County Republican chairman, said he would "substantially upgrade" security at the party's headquarters, including real-time surveillance cameras.

In Rock Hill, vandals scrawled the words "Republican means slavery" on the headquarters of the York County Republican Party, The Associated Press reported.

I guess a Dem that is to ignorant to know who lincoln was or what party he was a member of. doesnt

sorry for addressing my last post to Navin when it was directed to fedup,

what's so deplorable about using wiki to define a word? wiki is not influencing my opinion.

and nobody should be charged as an adult unless they're an ADULT. Period.

And can I ask you a question? Do you really think that Palin is qualified? If you answer yes to that question, then I will say that I thought better of you as well.

There were so many other people he could have chosen, and I think so much less of McCain for that choice too. He did not put country first like he said and since you're such a Palin fan can I quote her too? Didn't she admonish Biden in their debate for constantly bringing up the past?

Wright, Ayers....they're all in the past. Say it ain't so fed up!!!

I don't think that Obama is the messiah. I did not vote for him in the primary...but I'd do just about anything to keep McCain and Palin out of office.

They are both, at this point, beyond redemption or defending.
I don't see how you can say otherwise.

user-pic

I think I'm done here. I think I misstated something earlier that I'll just clarify real quick. The girl in Palos Heights never said it was a Muslim guy; she said it was an olive-skinned guy. Still, no one jumped to the conclusion that the attacker was an Italian, Greek, or Jewish guy, while according to the Tribune, strained between the case "stoked anti-Arab sentiments". A lot of people got worked up in a xenophobic, racist frenzy, and not a religious one.

I should have used the word Arab instead of Muslim. Although there is a lot of overlap between those communities, the two words aren't interchangeable. My bad.

Fed Up, Scooter... have fun with your racist red herrings, your funny numbers, and your personal attacks. I'm gonna go read some new news.

Everybody else... keep fighting the good fight.

Do I think palin is qualified to be president? No But to be honest I dont believe Obama is either. What has he done in the 2 years he was senator (the last year doesnt count he was a ghost employee). I really liked Mcain in 2000 before he was bushwacked. I prefer Obamas positions on many issues. I just really dislike the cult of Obama. I do feel he is a Crook Co machine hack better spoken and better looking then most but just as corrupt. no politican is perfect or even without past mistakes. Obama's history in politics is E Jones, Blago Daley stroger he endorsed dorthy tillman for gods sake.

"but I'd do just about anything to keep McCain and Palin out of office."
isn't this the type of rhetoric you are concerned about from Mcain's supporters?
I will vote because there are some races down the ticket I am interested in but Ralph nader if he got on the Ill ballot will probably be my choice.

I actually agree with not charging Juv's as adults. I just felt your post was misleading. No 10 year olds are being charges as adults in ILL.

"but I'd do just about anything to keep McCain and Palin out of office"

you think that's the same hate filled rhetoric that is coming from their camp lately? No way! Maybe I should have been more clear...by doing anything I mean voting, staying aware of what's going on and things like that. I don't mean spreading hate filled lies and hyperbole about McCain, like they're doing with Obama.

Hey...I didn't know who Obama was until this election process started. I'm not even from Illinois. I'm not really well versed in the whole "Chicago politics" machine. And like I said, I did not vote for him in the primary...but you have to choose the better of the two and that's going to be Obama.

If you vote for a third party candidate, I suppose in the state of Illinois, at this point, it's not going to hurt him. I voted for a third party candidate before and I'm not going to do it again.
I guess the only point would be to show your disdain for the choices, but this election is too important to do that.

I read something recently that was frightening. Even though the polls show that Obama is leading, the deal is that many people will SAY they're going to vote for Obama, because that seems to be the cool thing to do now AND they don't want to look like a racist. When they're alone inside the voting booth, their true colors will come out....the true colors being that they don't want a man of color as president. Especially when his middle name is Husssein and he pals around with terrorists and he's an Ay-rab Muslim.

And if you don't think that Palin's hate filled rhetoric doesn't influence people, check this out:

http://www.pamshouseblend.com/showDiary.do?diaryId=7532

These are the reasons why I think people should think twice about voting for third parties and why I hope that Obama wins so it sends the message to McCain that he was dead wrong in pandering to the lowest common denominator by choosing Palin and by running a low down dirty rotten smear campaign.

I do agree with the saying you will vote for Obama is the cool thing to do. I also read that this cool effect was given some credit for why he did so much better than Hillary in caucus states but hillary did better in primary states.

The reason I brought up the WTC was your bringing up hate crimes against Muslims when hate crimes against Jews [68% of all hate crimes] are the overwhelming majority!

So even after Muslims destroyed the WTC, it's still Jews that the haters go after!

That's not racism by me, it's just stating the facts.

And I still think the Elmhurst College "attacks" are made up by the student. But because she's a saintly Muslim, she can't possibly be lying, now can she?
