Heat Concern for Marathon, Again
Hydrate, people! Hydrate!
Heat is again a concern for this year’s Chicago Marathon, with temperatures expected to top 80 degrees tomorrow.
As of Friday, officials said the warning level was Yellow/Moderate for the race, signifying less than ideal conditions for a marathon. But officials said the alert level could change before or during the race. Red/High means conditions are potentially dangerous, and Black/Extreme means the race has been canceled (as was the case last year). [S-T]

Well shoot, it's better than cold or rainy weather!

Actually, the best marathon experience i had was cold and sleet. of course, rain is a different beast, so yeah i'll agree. from what i remember, ideal marathon temps are 50's.

i did 10 miles today. it couldn't have been better weather. they'll be fine tomorrow.

i think most runners would take cold over heat any day of the week. the organizers really need to push thing back around 2 weeks.

Didn't the runner who died last year have more of a problem because the Ambulance didn't get him to the hospital in time?
I'd wager this year you'll see more water than any runner will ever need. CYA and all that.

I'd be alright with it being pushed back a bit, but then it would run into recovery time for people who are trying to run both Chicago and New York, which many runners do when trying to qualify for Boston. And I'd take cold over heat myself, but with the added hydration and aid stations this year, I think things will be a lot better.
Here's hoping I just finish the beast this year, even if it takes me all night. If you see some chick running down the sidewalk around 10 pm tomorrow night looking like she's out of her mind, just know it's me finishing my marathon, haha.
All jokes aside good luck to everyone running!
