Call it a publicity stunt if you like. If you do the right thing for the wrong reasons it is still the right thing.

I would agree with this. It is a political stunt but it is the right thing to do. like when the renter pays the rent but the landlord doesn't pay the gas bill the gas still gets shut off but the renter is the one to suffer and has done nothing wrong.

Before the free-market loons come screaming about the invisible hand and Socialism and all that, think on this.

There was a statute passed here in Illinois that gives these renters a 120-day grace period to get their stuff together and get moved out, and nobody knew who was eligible for the 120 days or when it started or not because — once again — no one even knows they're there.

He's asking banks to notify people and give fair warning. Essentially asking a bank to obey a law regarding property to keep people, who have done nothing illegal and fulfilled their rental agreement, from becoming homeless without notice.

Call it a publicity stunt if you like. If you do the right thing for the wrong reasons it is still the right thing.
