Staycation, My Ass!

prices101408.jpgMaybe you will be able to afford the drive to Aunt Mabel's for Thanksgiving dinner in Fon du Lac after all - the price of crude oil continues to drop, and we're slowly starting to see the effects trickle down throughout the Chicagoland area. The Bright One spoke with energy analyst Phil Flynn, who said that demand is down and supplies are increasing as refiners get past hurricane season and start building supplies for winter driving.

Waukegan has already apparently posted gas prices below $3, the average price of a gallon of regular is $3.50 according to ChicagoGasPrices.com, and the price of a barrel of oil hovers around the $80 level, down from a high around $140. So if the gas prices continue to descend, prepare to gas up, hit the road, start buying SUV's a-plenty, and completely disregard all of those stories around town about staycations - except for ours, of course.

"Up, up and away" from p2wy, taken in early 2006 when $3 gas was "too much" as opposed to "a relief." Thems were the days.
