  • The photo to your right is of the Pinto Box, a new lunch offering at Sepia in honor of designer Maria Pinto and the opening of her boutique next door to the West Loop restaurant. The boxes are designed and hand-made by Canadian shaker box and cabinet maker Brent Rourke, and are filled with rotating menu items from Executive chef Kendal Duque and pastry chef Cindy Shuman.   • A e-mail from The French Pastry School yesterday touted the announcement of En-Ming Hsu as Chef Instructor, beginning in January. The former Beard Award winner and world champion (at the 2001 World Pastry Cup, Hsu led the US team to the largest margin of victory in the competition's history) used to ply her wares at the Ritz-Carlton.

  • Tribune "Cheesburger Bureau Chief" Kevin Pang (apparently the baja fish taco beat didn't pan out) reports on Five Guys Burgers and Fries following Fatburger into the Chicago market with two locations, one in the Clybourn corridor at 2140 N. Clybourn. Five Guys is often compared to In and Out. [The Stew]
