Who cares what they were when they were 20 years old? If that were relevant, then Bush's hard drinking and partying ways would still be important. The fact that Cindy McCain stole drugs from the charity she worked at would still be important. The fact that McCain graduated at the very bottom of a class of almost 900 would still be important. My God, McCain even admits in his autobiographies what a complete tool he was when he was young. We have people running this country right now who are responsible for the slaughter of thousands of people, who condone torture and threw habeas out the window. THIS is relevant, it's happening NOW. This is what is frightening NOW. What Ayers is doing NOW is what's important. What the criminals who are running this country are doing is affecting you and I NOW. What Ayers did decades ago is not influencing your life in any way.

he Weathermen were going after a racist imperialist power structure, not doctors providing healthcare services to women. Too bad they did nothing to change policy, and seemed to have little skill beyond blowing each other up. What complete fucking failures they were. Odd for such bright kids (and connected, too, as Ayers was/is). I call bullshit on them being a real revolutionary group. More like a group of bored--and relatively rich--kids who read a few books.

Maybe if Americans were not being part of Nixon's "silent majority" the Weathermen would not have felt the need to resort to those tactics. Being from Nebraska, I can say with some certainty there would be "safety concerns" should Mr. Ayers visit Lincoln. There are lots of angry 'necks where I'm from and most of them own guns. Sad as it is, it's not hard for me to imagine some "patriot" driving in from the sticks to take a shot at Professor Ayers. It wouldn't surprise me if there had already been threats of this kind. UNL did the right thing, I think.
