On a blog referring to Obama's election night speech being given in Grant Park, a commenter posted the following remark which cracked me up and is pertinent to the above story: "Well, if he’s got the Chicago Police on his side, any would-be assassins will be thoroughly beaten and gassed"

Nope, Navin, voters or the grim reaper are better hopes, I fear. The mayor, like his old man, apparently does not take bribes, and despite what many say and hope, is likely too smart to expose himself too much. God, I hope I'm wrong. On the other hand, it should be the duty of citizens, not appointed attorneys, to exile corrupt leaders and tyrants. Too many citizens of Chicago apparently share in the spoils of corruption, or have become apathetic, or can't imagine this city without a Daley in charge.
