I moved to Chicago 3 years ago and have never listened to a minute of Chicago radio. I have heard of Mancow but will not listen today at 9am. Who cares. He's been over for years.

Hey, back to Mancow for a minute. Some above suggested that Mancow might not be the right fit to follow Don Wade and Roma. I think that's a good observation. And part of the answer to that problem is that I'll bet Don Wade and Roma's days are numbered. Roma will definitely get the hook within one year. Don Wade might have a chance to stay, but I doubt it. People see them as a package. Who will replace them? That's the big question.

Ward, That's all true about Bush, but McCain has not problem with continuing this war for another 100 years...so that puts him on the same page as Bush. The McCain of years gone by is a much different person than the erratic, eye rolling, name calling, desperate, doddering old man of today. And yes, kgvs72, Mancow flatters himself with the term 'shock jock'. He's horrible. Racist and blithering. It stymies me that there is a place for him today.

Politicians will say whatever it is to get elected. Mancow is not a shock jock. I would say his comments are more racist and prejudice than shock. I heard (from what I remember) this on the radio one time and that is the last time I listened Mancow: "Muslims should be stoned to death, wrapped them in bacon and throw them in a graveyard face down." To Ward Up: If it is true that there was the highest tax increase in U.S. history, at least Clinton left the country with a surplus not a deficit. Republicans supposedly stand for less government and spending, but its seems like the last 4 or 5 Republican presidents have actually done the total opposite.

It was a huge mistake and, in my view, was AGAINST Republican principles and built on deception of the public by the idiotic Bush administration. Republicans support military strength, not military blundering. That's why Bush's approval rating is 18 per cent. Because a majority of REPUBLICANS think he is an idiot. That is unprecedented for a Republican president. And, while Democrat-inspired policies led to millions of risky mortgages, it was Bush who allowed the situation to fester without opposition. Anyway, in 2010 congressional elections, with Bush gone, and with people mad about the tax hikes, the Democrats are going to get whipped bad.

You won't remotely be able to equate Bush's tax increase to the increase we are going to get from the Chosen One. First, Bush, Sr. was dragged into his tax increase by Democrats who wanted to spend, spend, spend. Bush, Sr.'s mistake was giving in. And it cost him. He lost to Clinton, who pledged a big tax cut. And what happened? Clinton won, in part, because of this tax cut pledge. But after taking office, he introduced--and the Democrat-controlled congress passed--the largest tax hike in US history. Pork and vote-buying entitlement handouts for everyone! The Chosen One will do the same thing. Bait and Switch. It's the Democrats' way of life. Let's meet back here in six months and see if I am right.

Anyone remember Mancow's regular piece during his Q101 show where the (pre-recorded) voice talked about the global communist conspiracy and about how Bill Clinton was going to send people to concentration camps as if he were the modern Stalin? Mancow is an idiot and must hold some weird paranoid beliefs to even consider having that as a regular segment on his show. I wont be listening to his new AM show especially if he is even more paranoid-rightwing than he was during the Clinton years.

I saw Cheap Trick @ the 10 Year Anniversary party for the Chicago Hard Rock. At one point they announced that Mancow was in the audience. The response for the crowd- total silence. Not even booing, just silence.

The funniest thing about right-wing morning-Zoo disc jockeys like Mancow is their attempt to combine conservative rhetoric with toilet humor and STILL have the temerity to regard themselves as someone who's making a difference and standing up for something. Terrestrial radio. Um, yeah...I still listen to terrestrial radio. College of DuPage (90.9), great jazz in the morning. Dick Biondi(!) is still spinning the classics at every night on 94.7. @Tankboy: I get Dahl on podcast and flip between NPR and WLS on my way home, but less and less with WLS since Roe Connn has decided to fully embrace the right-wing nutso point of view. NPR has been a bit...bleak of late. One afternoon I counted 5 stories in a row about how fucking DOOMED we are on "All Things Considered". Seriously, people are still making music and art and movies and doing wonderful happy things. Not everything is how buggered the economy is. I just like a bit of yammering. The perfect background nothing.

What's worse than Jerry Agar? Oh look we found someone! Steve Dahl did a great bit on just how deranged Mancow has gotten at this point. Over the summer "the cow" appeared on Fox and Friends claiming -Obama is a secret Muslim -Michelle Obama went on a racist rant -Cardinal Bernadin arrange a papal audience for him in November (Funny since Benadin is...y'know...dead) He's a nutter and WLS is one desperate station to put his nonsense on that air. Roe Conn is tolerable at times, but WLS has decided to jam so many commercials in along with utterly useless headline news that you get about 10 minutes of actual content every hour. Personality-driven radio is happening in podcast form these days.
