The Friday Flashback: 2008 Chicago Country Music Festival

It was only a couple of weeks back, but the Chicago Country Music festival drew some pretty good crowds to its new digs around Soldier Field. In past years it was lost in the shuffle of Taste of Chicago.

Guilty Pleasure Alert: I like Gretchen Wilson, the native of Pocahontas, Illinois and self-styled "Redneck Woman." And she knocked this song out of the parking lot: a dead-on cover of Heart's "Barracuda" that is the complete opposite of "country."

She lost every bit of respect providing music for Palin.

I dislike Palin, too, but either this person's music is good or it is not good, regardless of what her politics might be.

Oh, I think her music sucks, too.

"Oh, but I can buy the same damn thing,
On a Wal-Mart shelf half price."

With pro-walmart lyrics like that, and her political associations, losing respect for her was easy.

Yeah, I dislike her music, too. Thanks for clarifying.
